Why are there so few top American contenders in a lot of the weight classed? Or top HW's who are just about 6'1? That's just the sport for you. It's changed. But NO ONE was complaining about Canelo being too short when he beat Kovalev.
Of course no one was complaining, but a lot of people argued that he was too small for the weight class, and they were right even tho Alvarez won. Clearly the man does not belong at 175, otherwise he would be fighting there again.
A lot of people have argued every side of every argument that has ever existed. Fact of the matter is, he won a title at 175. Now, I am of the opinion that when you win a title, you defend it. But we live in the world of title hopping to accrue 'fake' accolades. He chose a guy (Kov) who was ripe for the taking. I think the bigger problem was, there weren't any big enough names at 175 to make his stay worth it. Or another past prime LtHW with a belt. He played it safe and moved back down to 168.
Another reason he left 175 is because Bivol beat his ass at that weight and there is no way he would get in the ring with Beterbiev. If there was an easy belt for him there, he still would be fighting at 175. In fact, Alvarez was trying to schedule a fight at cruiserweight before he fought Bivol.
LOL Canelo wasn't too short the day before he fought Bivol. People were talking about him being the ATG if he beat Bivol. Bivol was the under dog. Now people acting like we've been watching midget boxing the last 20 years.

No, don't get it twisted, they both are world class talents. I'm not saying they aren't talented. I'm saying their names will generate no more $$ than any ranked opponent. They would be fighting here in the states. Crawford is the A side vs both. Neither of those names mean anything to casual fans here in the states. Besides, I highly doubt that gaining a strong UK following is far from a priority for Crawford and his camp this late in his career. I say it's meaningless in the aspect that Crawford at this point is fighting for legacy. Neither of those 2, especially Conor Benn, does nothing for the legacy of Crawford. No world titles. Neither have an amazing resume. Neither are former world champs. They are simply talented sons of a couple Hall of Famers at this point in their careers. They, as a name, are no greater than a David Avaneysan, Felix Diaz, Hank Lundy, or Jose Benavidez..... all were world class talents but have accomplished nothing significant in their careers. At least Avaneysan and Benavidez were highly ranked in the division Crawford was competing in at the time of their bout. A fight vs Benn or Eubanks is nothing more than stay busy fight. And on top of all that, Crawford would walk through both of them. It wouldn't be very competitive.
bud has earned my viewership unless he tries to fight tyson or jake paul or some stupid thing. 168? ill watch. 160? ill watch that too. 175? woot.
Crawford has legacy, it's now time to take the most money on the table Of course both of those are bigger than the names you mentioned, maybe not as good but far bigger names Crawford could travel too and not worry about overseas scoring because he'd beat both fairly easily It's easy work for big money Not meaningless fights in terms of bank balance and at 38 that's what Crawford should be thinking about Neither fight will happen tho so it's kinda irrelevant
For the sake of discussion....... What makes you think that Eubanks or Benn would be big money fights. Neither of them are huge PPV stars. Their first fight the purse total together was around $23M for a 60/40 split........Crawford got more than that vs Errol Spence Jr where he took home north of $30M. Crawford fighting a fighter who isn't from the states and has no world title and/or big name to add to his legacy is not a marketing tool to garner big money. Look at his fights vs Madrimov ($2.5M), Khan ($5.5M), Brooke ($4M), and even Avaneysan ($10M) had to go over the top to make sure they paid Crawford his first 8 figured check. Eubanks and Benn would fall into those categories especially being that no one is chanting a desire for those fights. Crawford would make more $$ fighting Charlo, Thurman, Ortiz, or even Ennis being that all of those names are homeland names and there is a platform to market the match ups given there is history of the fanbases wanting the match up. And if Crawford is to fight a foreign name, there has to be something that benefits his legacy for Crawford to want the fight like a world title and/or opportunity to become UNDISPUTED once again, thus the Janibek fight looks like it is in the works. Crawford at no point in his amateur or professional career has looked for the easiest fights. At age 38, he has yet to show that he is changing that narrative. I mean, he just jumped up 15lbs to fight the undisputed champ at 168lbs regardless of the fact he has only one fight in his entire life where he jumped on the scale weighing over 147lbs. As you said, neither fight will happen in regards to Eubanks and Benn. Benn was gunning for Jaron Ennis a year ago and Eubanks actually trained with BoMac & Red Spikes (Crawfords trainers) for a fight or 2 I believe.
You wrote all of that but missed my point of if the fight were in the UK Both have a following here in the UK that would make the fight very lucrative Crawford won't see that Canelo type money again so he should look at the finances now if he carries on Whilst your right in saying Crawford hasn't looked for easy touches, to say he isn't changing right now is because he has said absolutely zero about his future intentions The guys been fantastic and if he did choose to focus on money more than ever, I for one wouldn't hold it against him
