Ha ha ha. Number of boxers in lower weight classes is higher, therefore maths dictate potential concurence, not the boxer is guilty that in his weight class number of boxers is lower.
Everyone might easily check up for example number of registered professional boxers in each weight class, majority of questions will disappear automatically.
If one weight class does have > 2000 boxers, another approx 1200 boxers, then.....
The same is with Muay Thai in asia, some weight classes does have 3-4 X more guys than other weight classes.
With MT difference in concurrence ( raw athletes number for weight class ) between weight classes is considerably higher than in boxing,

With such success we might go till Ali in 60 ies and argue that today's boxers are nothing worth etc.

Average western man doesn't choose prizefighting career. Majority of boxers does not earn much, unless they are well known for another reasons. Boxers with better ranking, records of course earn more, then also is important how fans friendly the boxer is etc. Tickets sales, media interest. Difference between #10 and #100 is big, between #100 and #1000 even bigger difference.
People love fast money and some prefer more long term career.
If you are a pro boxer, you probably will not get much for your first fights and still if you wish to be good in future, a lot of time and efforts needs to be invested. It is like if you compare some guy that is fulltime and another part time.
If you can afford to devote all time only for this, then chances increases. If you have supporting family this again helps a lot. Beautiful if also someone will invest in you. Good health, a lot of dedication and hard work, luck not to get injured. talent of course too.
Plenty of other not mentioned here variables too.
Okey, there are some kind of ultra perspective prospects that might get big support before their pro debut.
Flyweight of course is not welterweight boxer but I use assesment from numbers of ranked boxers per weight class.

I do know this. I talk about how easy is to talk how bad is weight class today. HW today does not have Ali from 60 ies, therefore it is bad weight class?

I think only thing he is concerned about is next payckeck size.

I can appreciate U.S or U.K boxer but not rarerly plenty of guys from U.S in forums do not appreaciate any boxer if he is not from U.S. There even is not conversation about just " eastern europe ".

When people call Crawford #1 what they're really saying is he has the gifts and potential to be #1 which I absolutely agree with. But he is yet to prove it so chill out and wait till he has real bodies on his record.

Sorry, I just don’t see it. I think Loma is a bit more skilled and actually does things in the ring that stands out. Crawford is a solid all-around boxer, but he’s not a Roy Jones or Mayweather type of boxer with captivating skills and athleticism.

His best win was Horn. If he doesn't fight real live opponents soon, by mid-2021 he will become "CrawFART"

It’s easy to look like you’re P4P when your best wins are against Gamboa at 135 and Postol at 140.. Nothing else needs to be said and I know it’s unfortunate for him that he fought in 135 and 140 during their weakest eras in the past 20 years..

    Sure.

Short: Porter, Garcia & Brook are pretty damn good.

Long: I'd be quite happy for someone to have Mikey Garcia creeping into their top 10, and Porter has a better résumé than most guys in the top 10. I thought Spence clearly beat Porter, and the performance against Garcia was a level above anything Crawford has shown me. Then obviously you have the Brook win, which is a damn good win IMO, as Brook was still a top 5 WW then. Arguably #1.

Those are just his top three wins though. He actually beat ranked fighters to get his shot, not just pay fees and sit on a ranking. Guys like Lo Greco, Vargas, Peterson & Algeri pale in comparison to the above, but they're still good names to have on your record. Especially when the competition (in this case Crawford), doesn't have those.

Sure, he hasn't been undisputed, and he's not in his third weight class. But like I said before, those things were years ago for Bud. When do you draw the line? Coz if you don't, I'll start ranking the P4P list how it should. Y'know, Pac at #1, Gonzalez at #2, Dawson at #3, Huck #4, &c. &c.
