A principled agreement has been reached for 140 champ Terrance Crawford to defend his crown against Hank Lundy on HBO on 2/27. Considering that it was just a few days ago that Crawford's promoter (Top Rank) was still insisting that Crawford was a viable option for Manny Pacquiao in his next fight in April, the quick negotiation as well as the insipid selection of Lundy whose lost 2 of his last 3 fights seems awfully conspicuous. This development begs the question: just how serious was Top Rank in matching their young undefeated champion against Pacquiao? Surely if they were so confident in Crawford's chances against Pac they would have matched him against a stiffer opponent than Hank Lundy when the potential Pacquiao fight officially broke off, no?
Nice I could even see an upset, Lundy is potentially a really bad style matchup for Crawford especially if he fights like he fought Dulorme in the second half of their match.
Like I stated in the other thread...the press conference / weigh-in will be interesting, given Lundy's trash talking ability...!!!
At least he finally has an opponent. Arum should really not try to die being this stuborn and work with Haymon if he really cares for Crawfords future.
I dont like it. Lundy last fight was 8 rds. Now he fightin top dog at 140. N he lost beltran n dulorme. N lost to postol a guy he should be fighting. Too me its a no brainer bud should b fightin postol or benevidez
FWIW, this does pit two of the best switch-hitters in the game (even if Crawford is on a higher overall level) against each other. :conf
Ok fight, not one that gets you excited and not one of the opponents I wanted to see Crawford face but not too bad either. Lundy is a solid fighter, lot of experience, and some nice wins on his record. Crawford is building a solid resume at 140 and picking up more experience. He's probably being groomed to knock of Pacquaio and become a ppv type of fighter. Staying on HBO and knocking off solid opposition while Pacquaio keeps aging is the smart thing to do. I think one of the big problems with this fight is that people want to see Crawford get that big name opponent. He had a big 2014 but hasn't moved foward since even though he keeps getting HBO dates. If he fights 3 times this year and lands Pacquaio or even someone like Matthysee or Postol than this fight won't look too bad. If he fights nothing but guys like Lundy, Jean, and Dulorme this year than that will look bad on him.
Ok, in your opinion what turn of events could feasibly occur for this to turn into anything resembling a competitive match ???
Doesnt get the pulse going but Lundy is a tough out for anyone at 135-140 Might even be interesting to compare and contrast how Crawford does against him as opposed to Postol
Lundy is a tough sob, been in good fights, has heart, but yea, with that big mouf he's ****ing Crawford off, who takes stuff personally. Lundy going to get pummeled.
