Lundy is 1-2 in his last 3 fights and that victory came against a guy with 21 losses on his record. Blows my mind that a sanctioning body would allow him to fight for the title. HBO deserves a bent eyebrow for enabling Top Rank to put on this farce.
Lundy's original opponent Luis Cruz pulled out of the fight with an injury, Velasquez was a fill-in opponent...!!!
That doesn't change his lack of viability as a worthy contender for a title fight. If say the card was cancelled or the original fight was delayed then Lundy would be 0-2 instead of 1-2 in his recent bouts.
It's not great but it isn't so bad. Is Crawford being avoided or not chasing the better fights? Genuine question, I haven't been following that part too closely
My theory is that Top Rank, despite claiming Crawford was a viable option for Pacquiao, is continuing their effort to match Crawford against opponents whom they deem as unthreatening so that they can build up his marketability. I'm not really crossed with the idea of building him up slowly. My beef is with Top Ranks's false claims that Crawford was a serious option for Pac when its become obvious that he never really was. I'm also disgusted with the idea that during his slow ascension he's giving opportunities to undeserving challengers for his title - i.e. Hank Lundy whose recent record is laughable.
