Who has Crawford defeated that's remotely close to what Chavez was in his prime?. In fact who has Crawford defeated that would be remembered in the next couple yrs?. Prime Chavez would destroy that kid. Wouldn't be close.

No idea. Bud looked to be the real deal but he never had the opportunity to fight a talent like JCC.

 

Crawford is top3 from 135-140 for me, maybe top 2. He'd outbox and outpunch Chavez

 

You can easily say the same about Chavez and Bud though

 

We’ve gotten to the point now where Crawford has cemented his legacy enough to be one of the greatest of all time P4P, I think he’s more versatile than Chavez, he’d pick him off at range, poke and prod with the lead and and back hand, change the speed and patterns, set him up and time him with check hooks when Chavez commits, Crawford being more versatile through different ranges would make the difference, and he can also do things at certain ranges, to set up a punch as he pulls out, or goes into another range.

Crawford may occasionally get tagged, but he rarely gets tagged clean, he’s able to see punches coming, he’s able to stay tight when pulling out, keep his eyes on the opponents and move with the punches, push the opponent away to throw off their timing and accuracy as he pulls out of range to avoid being clipped, and also move with the punches accordingly, he’s great at the subtle things that allow him to not get tagged clean.

He may not be as lightening fast or explosive as even a Gervonta Davis, but he’s one of the greatest in terms of ring IQ, adapting etc, and he’s not exactly slow or unathletic either, just not one of the greats in that regard, neither was a Mike McCallum, but they more than made up for it.

 

I’m not the most familiar with Crawford, I think that he is a very large guy compared to JCC Snr isn’t he? If they were the same size JCC wins but that’s a lot of poundage I’m pretty sure Bud is about 15lbs higher then whatever weight he fights at in his prime he’d be 165lbs to JCC’s 140-ish lbs? Was he a big weight gainer? I don’t know.

 

I guess Chavez fought De La Hoya at 140 but he was a little past his prime

He's just way better

 

It wouldn’t be an easy night for either man. I know that much.

 

Appreciatin' Bud a lot more nowadays but c'mon

 

Bud probably has 20lbs on JCC OP is asking if JCC can essentially fight a very good middleweight… Crawford is a former wrestler, he’d be a pro when it comes to defeating the scales.
