This fight is bound to happen 2021. Shawn Porter is ranked #1 by the WBO to Crawfords title. Im betting my old man 20$ Crawford beats Porter.

Crawford already ducked him... What makes you think Crawford will fight Porter in 2021?

Crawford by wide UD. Porter is no walk in the park. He’s durable but can be outboxed. Porter would have to maul fight too negative to be able to win a points decision. Crawford bags enough rounds to win a 116-112/117-111 type nod.

I think it would be a close decision. Porter hustles, is aggressive and rarely slows the pace. Good fight. I hope it gets made, but I'm not holding my breath. Crawford has made it pretty clear that he only wants a real challenge if the money is tall. I don't think he'll get what he wants to fight Porter, sad to say.

I was thinking about it and thought Crawford could stop him because he comes in so strongly. But after watching Porter enough, despite the rough and reckless appearance, his style is fairly calculated. He has the awareness to avoid punches well enough during his crazy attacks. That said, Crawford is the sort of sniper that just might catch him coming in. But then again, Porter's high volume and roughness could be hell for Crawford's more precision style punching, not allowing Crawford to find his range. Wish this had happened.

I suspect Porter has ome of the highest (non-boxing) IQ and EQ levels in the game, people like that tend to be aggressive brawlers for whatever reason.

I think you're right on that he would focus on negating Crawford's range and doing everything possible to test his endurance. Body punches, wrestling, anything to force Crawford into Plan B. I can't think off hand of anyone who's done that to Crawford yet.

Unfortunately for Porter that's too much like his gameplan for Spence so Crawford will have some nice tape to study and craft a response. In many ways though, Porter is the toughest stylistic test for Crawford.

    That sounds plausible to me.

If he's mandatory then Crawford has a decision to make. Given the difficulty in making the big fights, a good win against Porter would at least put the pressure back on Spence and PBC. It's also likely to be the biggest fight available now there's no more fossilised remnants like Khan and Brook to dig up.

It could be FOTY candidate, hope it happens.

Porter always comes to fight which would be enough motivation for any opponent..... you know you need to be sharp against him otherwise you will lose. Crawford will most likely get a decision win on him because he’s been out boxed in the past.

Agree 10/10 that it could be FOTY stuff and I hope your outlook is the accurate one. Thing is, I don't think Crawford cares if he gets fantasy matched against Marvelous Marvin Hagler or Julio Cesar Chavez by the serious heads in the Classic section. If he ever cared about legacy, it doesn't appear to me as if he does now. I think he's straight risk vs reward at this point, that he hasn't run around and spent everything he's made and that he's gonna' have a hard time generating what he thinks he "deserves" under current market conditions. I despair of ever seeing him in a meaningful fight tbh. Hope I'm wrong.

Porter is tough, durable and a handful for anyone. Crawford wins a decision but no doubt has more than the odd rough moment on the way to earning a decision.

If Crawford could actually stop him that would be one hell of a statement as Thurman, Brook and Spence couldn't do so, but I don't see that outcome as very likely.

I'd favour crawford in any circumstance.

I dont see porter overwhelming crawford by pure charge into the distance and then high workrate. Specially a southpaw crawford that will counter him entering with his left hand yes... or yes.

Porter is a tough fight for anybody at 147 being big and his style but I think Crawford would be able to land better all nights and win a fairly clear decision.
