Ruiz has been mentioned a good deal, but he gets special attention for Ruiz vs Oquendo. I cannot imagine a fight that rivals that. Even the ref wanted it to end - he declared Ruiz the winner by KO after he landed the first meaningful punch.
Witter v Corley by a mile ! I got this put on in the pub and it nearly got me barred ! (almost any Audley Harrison fight could realisticly be on this list too ! )
My top two worst ever are Byrd-Williamson and Ruiz-Oquendo; however, I do think that Luevano-Concepcion this past weekend was as bad of a fight as I've seen in about 5 years. Worse than Valuev-Holyfield, worse than Luevano-Dib, worse than Klitschko-Ibragimov, worse than Lyakhovich-Briggs, worse than Taylor-Spinks, worse than Dirrell-Stevens. The other one I consistently hear was one of the worst of all time is Nelson-De Leon, but I've avoided watching that one.
Hopkins vs. Hakkar was the first Hopkins fight I saw. Hakkar didn't show up to fight, but it wasn't as boring as watching John Ruiz.
These were the two I was going to post. I can't remember two worse fights this decade, anyway. You'll see **** mismatches that go the distance on ESPN or Telefutura, but for major fights those were intolerable. I didn't see Luevano/Concepcion. Doesn't sound like I missed much. If you down in weight, Taylor/Spinks was awful as was Mayweather/Baldomir. At least the Hoya fight had some genuine suspense.
Hatton vs Urango. Man that was terrible Hatton just hugging for dear life. spinks vs Taylor. How has this not been mentioned yet. The worse fight of all time. 2 guys staring at each other for 12 rounds. DLH vs Trinidad. As a normal fight it wouldn't have been too bad but for all the hype it got and the potential that it had it was a real let down
