Only difference being of course that Ali would have a great fight inbetween those 'stay busy' ones and has one of the best résumés in boxing history. Klitschko's have a succession of these even though it's not their fault.
none, he was lucky with the W over Oquendo...barely beat T. Ibragimov. In reality this type of fight should be in between bigger fights....
You said it here....thats another problem...fighting so little then taking on cherry picks dosent help. Are we gonna wait another 8 months...
And Marvis Frazier had looked good in a couple of fights with wins over Bugner and Ford, and would go on to beat Tillis. Unlike Mormeck he was young and close to his physical prime. And Holmes get rid of him in a round, in far more impressive fashion than Wlad did to (admittedly spoiling) Mormeck. Marvis Frazier was not a great contender, defence or fighter, but I definitely think he was a more worthy and competitive defence on paper than Mormeck. There's footage of the Broad fight on YouTube by the way :good
dont need footage to re-look, saw him live...seen marvis enough times...on the same level as Mormeck. It was even a sanctioned title fight only the lineal....Flea give it a rest. One thing you can say Holmes did a better job over a similar fighter.
I'm not 21. And again you only read the bits of my post you want to read. I never said he had a good run, in fact I said he wasn't up to much as a contender. I said he had more form at the weight going into his fight with Holmes than Mormeck ha going into his with Wlad. And the case is not a hard one to make. I don't see how that means I'm discrediting the ultra-modern and relevant Jean-Marc Mormeck?
What was the Rings top 10 like then? Even if Pete was the best Olympian ever I bet there were some more obvious and more deserving defences to be made. Imagine if Cammarelle turned pro and jumped straight in with Wlad, it would be ludicrous even in todays shite division.
It would be ludicrous, but it'd be marketable :deal Funnily enough Floyd grew into heavyweight after his title reign IMO. Maybe less pressure, but against say, Ellis and Quarry, he put in quality showings against top contenders of the day, past his best. Rademacher, an unknown quantity essentially, somehow put on a spirited performance. The amateur system then was well-geared towards a transition to the pro ranks. The fight itself, and the fact Floyd gets dropped in it, are two big reasons I really don't rate his title reign. Quality fighter though.
