'Terrible' Terry Norris - How would he have fared against today's Light Middleweights

    IMO, Norris was a fantastic boxer, who was always in great shape, and ready to mix it with the best fighters of his era.
    Okay, so he lost a few, even in his prime, against the likes of fearsome hitters Julian Jackson & Simon Brown (no disgrace in that) and he got carried away on accasion, getting disqualified in the heat of the moment against one Joe Walker, and Luis Santana,(twice!) but he never ducked anyone, and handed out some painful beatings to accomplished pro's such as John 'The Beast' Mugabi, Sugar Ray Leonard, Donald Curry , Carl Daniels, Meldrick Taylor & Maurice Blocker.

    Of the current crop, I think Paul Williams and Miguel Cotto would probably walk through Norris - but then again - I think Williams would destroy any LMW from ANY era, and likewise Cotto in the welterweight division, but apart from them, I think Norris would make mincemeat of all the other pretenders to the Welter or LMW 'alphabet' crowns, and that includes such stars as Forrest, Margarito, Mosley,(okay, that's a 50/50) Kirkland and Cintron.

    I'm pleased that Terry got recognition in getting inducted into the Boxing Hall Of Fame a few years ago, but I feel that this excellent exponent of the 'Noble Art' is, by and large, overlooked in the context of more glamorous names of years gone by, and unfairly so, in my book.

    I hope he's doing well for himself today, after performing in so many wars for our entertainment, back in the day...:happy

    he took everything donald curry and SRL had to throw at him and despite being past there prime they still were big punchers, he would have dominated and ko'd every1

    Nooris would dominate today's Lt.middleweight crop

    Cotto would get Kod in 5 against Nooris

    Williams is an interesting matchup though

    Mosley's prime wasn't at light middle. None of the light middle's today would beat Terry. Forrest, Spinks, and Santos all get knocked out.

    Yeah. I was thinking too much about Norris's chin. But he got KO'd by KO artists. He would probably beat Mosley.

    norris only looked fearsome against b level fighters. no way he starches williams or even 154lb version of shane. he'd have his moments, but when he destroyed mugabi the beast was already way past his prime and got softened by hagler. norris was very good, but not great. SRL was not a dangerous puncher up to that point, he was already a shell of his former self.
