Agree things are exaggerated. What I will add is 100% the Krays did get drove out of Gladgow, they took a hell of a pasting in the Southfield of Glasgow. That I know is definitely not made up or exaggarated

Didnt Brian c0ckerill or whatever his name is claim to beat Dave Garside in a fight?

I honestly believe a decent boxer will beat most men in the street.

ask the Old Guy IF he knew Bert Gilroy aka Tony Rea, he was Keenan's pal and Ring Comrade at the end of his own career, the start of Keenan's, he also coached Cowboy McCormack who was one of Downes's opponents...

Bert was one of Britain's greats and one of Glasgow's hardest _unts, a Private Minder for some of the cities finest citizens.

He was meant to of had a fight with him yeah he said he beat him but also said in his book that dave garside was ranked in the top 10 in the world at heavyweight at the time!!! Iv read alot of those type of criminal/gangster books and even though the all exaggerate or even lie calling garside top 10 heavyweightin the world was without a doubt the worst lie I had heard in those books, he was a domestic level cruiser for **** sake!!!

I had to check boxrec when I read it because I thought to myself why have I never heard of this garside lol!

Anyway ****erill was supposed to be a genuine hardman yet he had a life or death struggle with a very much lower British level boxer who was several stone lighter than him

Brian ****erill did beat Dave Garside in a "fair" fight, then Garside and a bunch of his mates lured ****erill into a house on Ormesby Bank, Middlesbrough and beat **** out of him with hammers and axes and left him in the front garden of the house for the next door neighbour to find him.

****erill was a dangerous man because of his size and strength, he wasn't skilled in an paticular way, just extremely strong and once he got hold of you, you were pretty much ****ed really because you try roll a 24 stone man off you.

****erill did meet his match (and then some) in the form of a guy called Lee Duffy. Lee was 6ft3 and about 17 stone, a guy who, as we say "could do it in the ring AND out the ring"

He attended a Boxing club in Southbank, Middlesbrough, got into it at the age of 16 because he was bullied a lot.

I believe (don't pin it to me) that he did have a couple of amateur fights, i know 100% he had no professional one fights. Could he of became a professional fighter? I think so... But he fell foul on the wrong side of the tracks

Most boxers even small ones like bantams and featherweights will beat most men in a fight.
