Light welter all Brits battle .Marsh More of a unknown quantity than Khan , retired undefeated due to health reason s . The Khan that beat Malignaggi against Marsh who stopped Joe Manley 15 rounds ?
this is a difficult call, since we know khans best is hovering below the A grade (A- at his best), but we dont know Marshs best. We know who would win in an election, none of the above.
True regarding Marsh been a mystery but I believe he was a Good solid performer .Good enough to beat Khan? Not sure but I believe he doesn't fold to quickly .
For all of his flaws, Khan has often looked like a world beater against moderate punchers. He virtually shut out Kotelnik, Alexander and Collazo, who were all world titlists. His main weaknesses are obviously his chin and lack of physical strength and infighting ability. Marsh was one of those fighters who was more than the sum of his parts, but I don't think he has the attributes to be kryptonite for Khan. He would probably come on strong later in the fight and start getting to Khan, but by that point Khan would have built up a big lead on the cards and be able to hang on for victory. Khan has a big heart and unless you concuss the guy he generally finds a way to stick around and get through the rounds. 15 rounds is the unknown quantity, as neither have been that long in a fight. The suspicion would be that Marsh would handle it better, but even so that's not a foregone conclusion.
Good post. Marsh could turn out to be one of those underrated Brits here , that shock s by beating the favorite. My personal pick is Khan wins on cuts tenth round , but Terry drops him twice first .
Marsh isn't a completely unknown quantity. There's enough of him to see his Boxing capabilities and, to my mind, to see that he was by far the more intelligent Boxer of the two. Marsh had the advantage in just about every category but hand-speed. However, speed alone wouldn't be enough to overcome Marsh, who was slick enough and durable enough to take Khan into the later rounds. Marsh could push a consistently high pace and wear Khan down and was seemingly able to go up in gears, at will. In my opinion, Marsh could bring much more pressure than Peterson did, particularly in close, where he was more than happy to rough it up and get the better on the inside (where Khan has zero to offer). The punches Marsh caught Manley with near the end of their bout in '87 would have also felled Khan. It's a spectacle - but, I see Marsh prevailing here in what, in retrospect, is viewed as a bit of one-sided beating.
Good stuff from u man machine .And good to see Marsh being given some credit .Its a pity he had to retire , I thought he was a character .
He was said to be a sharp shooter by his manager Frank Warren but Marsh himself said he didn’t have much of a killer instinct.
