Harry Greb's 1919 campaign might be the sickest run any boxer ever produced. 45 wins in 45 fights. Wiggins, Brennan multipe times, Miske, Levinksy, Mike Gibbons, Joe Chip, Jeff Smith, Mike McTigue, Willie Meehan...
Ah da crapper appears with more pysstorian theories lol, since you seem to work on your your fine theory of "who you gonna believe my cherry picked articles or your lying eyes." Just cos you cant see the punches landed before the left hook over his shoulders lol Give McGovern credit he caught Gans cold, thats was all there was to it, but noooo you will come 50 articles that support your fix theory. I have my eyes and visual evidence, you have articles, that I have broken down before. You have no definitive proof that it was a dive, all one has to do is "Go to the tape". But knowing you will deny, deny deny. You're right dont give credit for a fix, give McGovern credit for a fine win.
The general consensus among legitimate historians is that the 1900 bouts with Erne and Mcgovern were fakes forced upon him by his manager.
could be but all you have to do is watch the fight and make up your own mind, We have an advantage today that they didnt have at that time, youtube, we can stop action, slo mo the vid. They had film from a projector. Not one of those legit historians had definitive proof, going on hearsay evidence. That doesnt stand up, anybody can say anything, even if they were ringside. How many conflicting reports of a fight come from seeing the same fight? Many.
Willie Pep faked his KO loss to lulu Perez and to the untrained eye it looked legitimate, however those in the know knew Pep should have easily won. You know what they say about great boxers, they are great actors too. Nevertheless his acting was obviously not good enough as he was banned from fighting in New York for the rest of his career.
You're right, Lulu Perez was no McGovern in style, punching power or stature. McGovern was special. The tape shows he was a fast starter, bomb thrower, IMO he caught Gans cold and he couldnt recover. It happens, catching guys cold before they warm up sometimes works and in this case I believe it did. Gans was caught hard and often. The truth is in the eye of the beholder. He made Lulu look like a murderous puncher, which he wasnt. I believe Lulu had 8oz gloves if I am not mistaken, and McGovern was using 4-6oz gloves, I dont know but those smaller gloves are like getting hit with rocks
