Terry McGovern v.s Rigondeaux. Who takes this??

McGovern is regarded by many boxing historians as one of the best featherweights to lace em up. He had pulverizing power and an in your face, unbreakable style. As demonstrated below.

We haven't seen enough of Rigondeaux in the pros to consider him among the best ever but we have seen him get dropped plenty so that chin would be in severe danger against a puncher like McGovern.

I say McGovern in two. Discuss

Boxing evolved a lot up until 1940's the way MMA has been evolving. I just can't envision McGovern beating Rigondeaux.

It was so funny how back then, the boxer who had floored his opponent could stand over him and smack him again in the process of standing up. Brutal days. But styles were way too crude 100 years ago to even start comparing boxers from that era with those of today. I suspect Rigo would be moving (running) a lot and evading the wild swings all the way to a points win.

(You really need Thatsright for this thread, lol)

Well... you and I both know what that idiot Thatsright would say.

    "You WACIST!!"

But I gotta disagree with ya Double Jab. I think McGovern blasts Rigondeaux's lights out within 2. I just don't see his chin holding up to the fury

The posted fight was a fix.

McGovern is one of the primitive greats, someone who might make a dent on the world scene but wouldn't be a dominant champion.

His work rate and power would carry him far but his total lack of technique and defence would see him struggle against the elite boxers of today.

Rigo most likely schools and stops him.

A bit like when Mayweather beat up Gatti.

Too hard to compare such different times, with such a rudimentary technique back then compared to modern day boxing...

    Great clip to watch though...
