Not garbage at all. By all appearances, Norris' people wanted nothing to do with JCV at the time. He took care of Winky Wright and did well (very well, I thought) against Sweat Pea. He had more than enough power to dent Norris' tender beard, was able to cut the ring off and handle slick fighters. Plus, he had toughness and tenacity. Though he was good friends with Castro, JCV was much more refined.

JVC was very underrated, and he would have no doubt beaten Terry if Terry tried to have a shootout with him, but I believe Terry would have decisioned him.

If that had been JCV rather than Troy Waters, Norris would have left the ring in pieces. Terry liked to fight, to be aggressive. It's one of the things that made him so entertaining but also a bit of his undoing.

Ray Robinson , Sam Langford and Young Peter Jackson would have seized the top3 , but since you all mean since the inception of the division for some wrong reason , i'll go with the tradition this time :

    1. Mike McCallum
    2. Paul Williams
    3. Ronald Wright
    4. Ray Leonard
    5. Julian Jackson
    6. Thomas Hearns
    7. Nino Benevenutti
    8. Terry Norris
    9. Oscar Delahoya
    10. Laurent Boudouani

i can't believe norris in my list .
i should study more i guess. simply couldn't find at the moment.
lopez , quartery , davis , starling are not proven enough at the weight.
norris really fought a lot at the weight and has plenty of noteworthy wins.
however , lots of stoppage losses also and they come between the ages of 22 to 31.
not that young and not old. no excuses.

How would Norris have done against the Duran which destroyed Davey Moore?

Is that the best you can say regarding a Norris/Vasquez fight?

Norris was not a dumb fighter, especially when it came to opponents who were dangerous punchers, check his fights with Jorge Castro, Vincent Pettway. The Waters fight is the only fight where he went completely reckless.

I can say I was covering fights during this period and it was widely floated/understood that the Norris camp was avoiding him. That was the hubbub, at least. And I can understand. Style-wise, Vasquez was a nightmare for Norris.

listening to Foreman's moronic comments is like reading stoneboy Fleaman Harry's comments that he can't back up. makes you wonder what all they're on. Foreman was a terrible announcer and Fleaman gets all his boxing from you tube and boxrec. No practical live experienc. Just basically, a knowitall (though he doesn't), put down others like he alone knows the sport (in his 20 or so obviously able to know more than people who actually were at the historical events) years. My dead wife's duetschebag knew more than this poser. That's his new name-Poser.:adminHave a good day Fleaman Poser.

Very good but not the best. Tommy Hearns was the best ever at that weight.

Actually, Norris wasn't a very smart fighter. He lost a lot of fight that he could have one. The Santana Trilogy shouldn't have happened. The Brown loss was just plain stupid on his part. Hell, he lost to Keith Mullings. He made so many fights more difficult than they should have because he would rather slug it out rather than use his natural skills to overwhelm opponents. He was one of my favorite fighters because of his fighting spirit, but he would have been much better if he had to discipline to accept and compensate for his limitations.
