I once read that speed kills and that timing kills speed , yet i think workrate kills speed and timing more often than the opposite way. In addition Basilio was way tougher than Norris , yet outside of his actual stoppage losses to a somewhat bigger and younger man at the end of his career , he was also very badly hurt (by his own admission) by Tony DeMarco , so if they fought a sufficient number of times , maybe Norris could have (strategically) accommodated and stopped him in the minority of the cases.
I'm no fan of Baslilio and would be rooting for my hero Terry Norris but I feel that chin and toughness win out. As we all know, CB went 15 with Robinson badly damamged with sight impairment. Basilio by late round tko
my gut agrees with you and it all depends on how patient and smart terry fights. let's say this is at 154, terry has all the talent in the world to win it. but he had all the talent needed to beat simon brown as well. for my money, i'll take terry 2/3 in a trilogy but basilio takes the first match for the reasons you listed
If Basilio could take to THE greatest of them all, the incompareable Sugar Ray. Basilio was very hard to hurt, nail tough, could go a hard 15, and was an all time great. Norris speed and quick combos give him some trouble early on. But look for the onion farmer to dig in, walk through Norris`s best and stop him late in the fight. Basilio was one of the most underrated fighters in history...
