Terry Norris from the Leonard, Castro, Mugabi time frame would get to Vargas in a war. Norris' speed and accuracy are the deciding factors for me.

Agreed with above poster. It'd be a tough fight for Norris, as prime Vargas was damn good. But Vargas always had trouble with handspeed and always had trouble avoiding left hooks.

Norris' speed would keep him in control, and eventually he'd catch Vargas with a hook he doesn't see, and stop him.

I agree with the above posts. I think it plays out similar to Vargas vs. Mosley 2 in that it would be a good fight, but at some point Vargas gets caught with something he never saw coming.

Oscar DLH had tremendous success vs Vargas with a fast left jab and some movement. Now picture a bigger man, with greater handspeed, who can throw bombs with bombs hands and is a more athletic boxer.

    Norris UD.

A prime Vargas (say pre-Trinidad the one who fought Quartey and Winky) was a real tough nut. I think he gets dropped late but guts it through. Vargas in his prime was a real workhorse, very active and so prideful.
