Terry Norris vs. Oscar De La Hoya @ 154

Is this the fight where Norris was supposed to fight him after the "tune-up" w/ Mullings or are we assuming this is a prime Norris vs. the DLH vs. Vargas? If its the first statement, I'll pick DLH, the 2nd, pending on the ref, I'd favor Norris by a decision

 

Norris by clear UD. I like his speed and overall offensive arsenal against Oscar. Norris has the advantage in everything except durability and power.

 

Norris has too much of everything for De la Hoya to overcome.

 

I'd say Norris, But ODLH in 2001-02 had a mean "45 Uppercut" that could end Norris.
If Terry's chin holds up 12 rds, I'd say Norris.

(Tho keep him away from Trinidad!!!)

 

At 154, Oscar is smaller, while Terry is faster. DLH gives a good account of himself before ultimately dropping a UD to Norris.

 

I picked Norris.

 

I hate to go against my man Oscar who I think the world of but I got to go with Norris on points. besides, this isn't Oscar's best weight.

I think it would go to a decision in favor of the quick and gutsy Norris. Oscar was a very good light middleweight. Oscar to me was somewhere from good-to-great in all the divisions he fought at but peaked as a welterweight. In the short 154-lb division history, I think Norris might be the most accomplished king. I'm not saying he's the best p4p guy that ever fought AT 154(like Leonard and Hearns), but I think he's the best career 154-pounder I can think of. Maybe I'm blanking on a big name but still. A great fighter at his best and at 154, better than Oscar in my opinion.

my opnion is norris on occasion backs oscar to the ropes, and also keeps oscar covered up with 3 hit combos in the center of the ring. oscar presses foreward using his nice snappy jab and left hook but no dice. norris's handspeed, agility, bigger physique and understated boxing skills would make him win a unanimous decision with maybe some shakey moment in the later rounds.

 

Norris was quick, naturally bigger and I think a better overall boxer than Oscar. I say Norris wins a decision.

 

De La Hoya's best weight was probably either 140lbs or 147lbs. However, he was a fine jr middleweight. I think he would have some problems with Norris's speed and movement. Norris has a problem with fighting a disciplined fight over 12 rounds. He liked to fight well within range and exchange. Once he traded with De La Hoya it might well be the end of him.
