Saturday in Bulgaria, for the vacant WBA International cruiserweight title. Webster, hailing from Kansas City, is the first and to date only person to last 10 rounds with Kazakh wunderkind Ali Bagodinoviç Akhmedov. He's a moderate step up in class for unbeaten 36 year old Pulev (younger brother of Kubrat, the perennial heavyweight contender), who for the first time won't have significant advantages in height & reach and/or be facing a journeyman or shot fighter (like Valery Brudov).
Aired on Diema Sport, results from the evening so far: Joana Nwamerue won by TKO 1st rd vs. Kristina Svarc Pencho Tsvetkov won by TKO 1st rd vs. Edgars Kalnars Patrick Mailata Won by UD vs. Pavlo Krolenko. Scorecards were 59-55, 59-56, 60-54 Borislav Zankov won by RTD 4th rd vs. Konstantin Semerdjiev Bogdan Dinu won by TKO vs. Osborn Machimana. Machimana's corner threw the towel in rd 5 Spas Genov won by UD vs. Levan Shonia. Scorecards 79-73x2, 79-75 Tervels's bout coming up next.
UD win for Pulev. The scorecards are 118-110x2, 120-108. Webster was almost KOed in the 6th rd, saved by the bell. Pulev didn't push for a stoppage after that, allowing Webster to recover. Overall a total dominance for Tervel and good win for him against a descent opponent.
Patrick almost stopped Pavlo in the first, but Pavlo survived and Patrick would go on to win a routine 6 round points victory.
