LAS VEGAS (MAY 21, 2014)--Featherweight prospect Tevin "The American Idol" Farmer is in camp and is sparring with Featherweight title challenger Vasyl Lomachenko in Las Vegas.

Farmer of Philadelphia is giving Loamachenko some good southpaw work as the Ukranian amateur legend prepares for his WBO Featherweight title fight against undefeated former U.S. Olympian Gary Russell Jr. on June 21 in Carson, California.

Farmer (15-4-1, 3 KO's) himself is also preparing for a June 5 bout against undefeated Emanuel Gonzalez in Boston on Fox Sports 1.

"I am here learning, getting experience and helping him prepare for his fight,"said Farmer.

"Just training and being in the camp has helped my confidence as I prepare for my own fight. I know on June 5, I will be more than prepared and put on a good show for the fans. They will want to see me again. I have been waiting for this opportunity my whole life. It is here and I am ready to take it."

"This a great experience for Tevin, said Club 1957 manager Mark Cipparone.

"Lomachenko is considered one of the greatest amateur fighters in history as he won two gold medals and to be able to absorb knowledge from him is priceless. We hope that being in this camp will help Tevin in his own career going forward," finished Cipparone.

Farmer has slightly lower than Russell hand speed, and his punches are definitely not as hard or as crisp as Russell's.

I just rewatched the Saildo-Lomachenko fight to make sure I didn't miss anything and was amazed at how many flaws Loma has in his game.
You would think that a featherweight would make extensive use of his jab, but Loma greatly underutilizes his. Perhaps this is one of the many flaws his trainer is working on in his camp.
He had better be or once Russell wins the battle of the jab, it's a done deal and 1-2 will be soon to follow.

Good thing Vasyl is fighting Russell and not someone on Salido's level then.
