    Round 2

Right hand by Vinan. Farmer eats a couple of them in succession while circling at mid-range, then begins to jab out in the way to blind Vinan. Farmer steps in past his jab and ties up. Farmer is nullifying Vinan's offense now, working in spots after trotting out to spiral around him and pot shot with jabs and 1-2s. Vinan is yet to find a way to adjust like he did to start the round.

    Round 3

Farmer is moseying clockwise around Vinan, not leading, tossing in the quick right jab counter when Vinan stretches out a lead right or paws a left jab but otherwise dedicated all his energy to defensive movement. Farmer is grabbed up close and bends low, slapping a right hook up into Vinan's face and then firing a left hand low. Very low. Vinan is given recovery time. Farmer is given a warning. Time in. Clinch. Break. Retaliatory low blow by Vinan, but Farmer turns and catches it on the hip. Right jabs up top and lefts to the body by Farmer, keeping Vinan on the outside.

    10-9 Farmer

    30-27 Farmer

Farmer is starting to feel it and get into a sharp offensive groove, but only has two knockouts to his name while Vinan has been stopped only thrice in 26 bouts...

    Round 4

Farmer is laying the 1-2 on Vinan's stomach and then leaning outside even with Vinan already positioned two or three steps off. Farmer is flicking the right jab from the hip and scoring on Vinan's face as Vinan sits in a partial crouch on the outside, watching and scanning for an opening that won't present itself.

    10-9 Farmer

    40-36 Farmer

"Right now he is boxing like a Larry Holmes!"

    - Mike Mittman

"Er, no. He is boxing like himself. He is doing alright here, but..."

    - Larry Holmes

    :rofl :!:

    Round 5

Farmer is tossing the right jab into Vinan's face at medium-long range and then falling to his left to draw the hammer on a left uppercut, which Vinan cooperatively walks onto. Farmer is ducking the wild left hooks of Vinan, coming up with straight combos in counter, and moving after landing. Farmer is spearing Vinan on the way in with the right jab. Vinan tries different approaches, doing some ducking and diving with overhead windmills from various angles - but he can't avoid that right stick of Farmer's.

    10-9 Farmer

    50-45 Farmer

Mittman and Holmes are discussing the possibility of Vinan having 'too good a chin' and saying this is how people get hurt taking prolonged beatings...yet they also point out that Farmer exerted himself landing so many punches and seems to be tiring...

    Round 6

Farmer is pivoting to his left, allowing Vinan to get inside with lunging straight arm punches, letting them cascade off his right bicep, and snapping in to counter with left uppercuts. Right hooks put together with the left uppercut by Farmer, rotating his hips constantly to make Vinan's sloppy attack now consisting of mainly overhands wash up on his arms or flanks. Farmer is throwing short-burst power combos while covering a full 180° field going side to side and never letting Vinan properly square up or touch him.

    10-9 Farmer

    60-54 Farmer

Larry Holmes big ups promoter Jay Newman and says it will be great for the Philly boxing scene if even relative small-timers such as Newman are willing to regularly put on entertaining shows like this and whet the fans' appetite for possible larger events.

IB Funfact: (and if Mittman or Holmes mentioned this on the broadcast last night it completely slipped by me)

Rahman Musfata "Genghis Khan" Yusubov - the slow-handed but doggedly persistent and hook-mad Uzbek-Texan journeyman who made Ouma look so ragged last night in what could have easily been a draw or even upset loss for the widely admired Ugandan with less sympathetic judges - is the man who ended the comeback attempt of 90's welterweight champ James Page last year. As some of you may remember, Page lost to Six Heads Lewis and then began a new and short-lived career as bank-robber, promptly getting tossed in the slammer. Within months of getting out, he was in the ring - kayoed in two by Yusubov.

So keeping things in perspective, last night could have gone worse for Ouma. :!: (although if you look at his life overall from childhood it probably has been a great deal harder than Page's even with the eleven year stint in the clink taken into account)
