February twenty-fifth, co-headlining the PPV with Adrien Broner versus a revolving door of dance partners (first Ivan Redkach, then Hank Lundy, and now Michael "Boy Wonder 150%" Williams, Jr.). 10 rounds @ lightweight. The combatants share a couple of ignominious stats: both are coming directly off a loss (Farmer to Joseph Pedroza Díaz, Jr. in January of 2020 and Bey Jr. a month earlier to George Kambosos Jr. in December of 2019) and they each, following their defeats, took all of 2021 and 2022 off, and will be competing for the first time in over three years and indeed during the Covid-19 era. Combined they have 17 victories by stoppage in a total of 65 bouts...meaning they halt just over a quarter of their opponents (in Farmer's case, 16%). Enjoy your thirty dull, tedious minutes of "action" to get you in the mood for Broner fighting an Uber driver, whoever buys the PPV!
I bought every mid-late aughts David Tua headlining PPV, and even I wouldn't consider parting with so much as twenty bucks for this.
You bought the Tua-Saul Montana fight too? I used to buy every integrated sports PPV my damn self. Adamek-Grant, too.
Yep, the Holyfield ones too. God, they were so awful. But hey at least they were half the going price (then) of major boxing PPVs.
Col. Bob on the commentators table. Lol.. They were terrible quality, but worth the buck for some boxing on a saturday that had nothing else on!
A minor one, yes. I don't expect they'll be looking to match Top Rank or GBP numbers. It's a small fry show promoted by Christy Martin (yes the former women's boxing pioneer, apparently she does this now) so their barometer for success will probably be handicapped fairly healthily compared with a major league championship event.
You would have to pay me at least 100 dollars to sit down and watch that whole fight. Time is money, and I'm not going to torture myself for no reason.
I believe this fight was going to be in Ghana, then the United Arab Emirates and I remember about six months ago I was watching their card from Arizona on line and the fight was cancelled shortly before it was supposed to start. Maybe the 4th time is the charm.
It was originally announced in November of 2021 in a venue to be decided for end of that year or early in the next...then scrapped, only to be re-announced in April for a May date in Accra, then moved to Dubai, and then scrapped again last minute, then rescheduled for August in Prescott, AZ before one more cancelation and now being resurrected nine months later. So fifth time is the charm. So much drama for a fight that will feature none!
