Cooper from the Mercer fight likely outworks him to a points win, although on most occasions Cobb likely outlasts Cooper and stops him late, since Cooper was more inconsistent. I don’t see Cooper stopping Cobb, there’s more chance Cobb stops Cooper, but I believe Cooper outworks him if it’s the bests versions of both.
I don't understand your logic TBH. Cooper broke Mercer's jaw early but despite that still lost near enough every round and Cooper was the one who got outworked. So I don't see how losing near enough every round to Mercer is an argument for Cooper against Cobb. More than likely Cobb would drag Cooper into deep waters and stop him late on.
Cooper is a much harder puncher than Cobb, he’d definitely gain his respect and would be able to open up more often than Cobb. He's also far quicker than Cobb. Yes Cobb has a much better chin, but I believe Cooper would still gain his respect, lower Cobb’s output, land offensive jabs, beat him to the punch in the exchanges and because of the power threat, Cooper would be able to outwork him. It’s not even an opinion I strongly hold, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Cobb outlasts and stops him, in fact I’ve been going back and forth on that.
Would love to see. The attitude in that ring would be worth the watch alone. Two very tough guys who could both punch.
I agree. Cooper was the better and busier fighter right out of the gate, but he also tended to gas late in fights where as Cobb usually lingered . Not sure who wins myself. I think it would be a crowd pleasing fight though
Yes, it’s for that very reason that this is very close to a dead on 50/50 fight. Cooper may rack up enough early on, and maybe nearly gets stopped at a point late on, then gets a 2nd wind and sees out the fight, or he may actually get stopped. I’d say Cooper wins 6 out of 10 times, Cobb wins 4 out of 10 times.
Cobb. Cooper is well loved for his tough fights, but he doesn't have an actual good win to speak of. Well, maybe Orlin Norris. After that, Joe Hipp, Willie de Witt and Henry Tillman are the high spots.
