So Cobb falls through a time warp to 1959. As fate would have it, the CIA kidnaps Cleveland Williams before his scheduled bout with Sonny Liston and has him tied up in an underground bunker in Alabama. Tex Cobb has come to take Williams place. Does he see the last bell?

Where in Alabama? I’m a native and I’d like to visit this historic boxing site.

Damn that Harry S Truman for creating the CIA!

I’m going to seek out some secure locations in Alabama and see what I can find out.

I know Tex Cobb lived in Nashville for a time (I met him there, actually) so he’d probably know.

Not a 59 model, but put him in against an older version of Liston and I think a motivated Cobb makes it an interesting fight. His brawls with Shavers and Norton were entertaining fights.

I could actually see Cobb and Liston getting drunk after.

Recall what a ancient Liston did to Chuck Wepner? A younger version might seriously hurt Cobb. Liston by KO in 8-10 rounds, Maybe less if the ref can't stomach the beating any longer

Did Williams know about JFK and Dallas in Nov 1963? Ha Ha. Oswald did it alone.

Sonny Liston, long pole like left jab, good boxing skill, good combinations. Randall Tex Cobb, durability, rough and tough. Liston set him up with all of his skills, especially in 1959, Liston lands the right hand that can break noses, Cobb choking on his own blood is rescued by the referee in round 6.

I don’t think so. Sure there were other men less durable than Cobb who saw the final bell against Liston, but the difference is that Cobb was there to be hit.

I’m more interested in the story of Williams & the CIA. Will there be a novelisation?

Anyway, you ever see Foreman-Chuvalo? A little longer, but not terribly different.

The cop who shot Cleveland was actually a Russian spy!
