To be fair Dawson was a hot favourite and under 1/2 to win - it was hardly upset of the century that he won. I too did think Tarver would do better then he did though, but there was simply nothing left in the tank, he's too old.
yup, doesnt say much for poor woods who was simply outclassed that night he thought tarver. Woods is finished
I agree, it makes Woods performance look even worse - if that is possible. Being kind.... perhaps it was just a bad day at the office.
Hey I am a genuis. Although not for predicting this one, Dawson was a favorite after all. It takes a strong man to own up to a bad pick. Bailey has a losing record as far as predicting fights and I've never seen a thread from him.
I've only watched it the once, when it was on, and Tarver looked pretty slick to me - I was impressed. It was a real shut out. He was blowing heavy later on but that was it on the criticism front. I'm willing to accept that perhaps it was just Woods being poor though, rather then sit through that again...
While we're showing off, check out posts #25, #26 and #27 in the thread below, started the day after the Woods-Tarver fight..... http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58344&page=2&highlight=tarver+woods
Woods was awful though, he just made Tarver look good. You expect a world class boxer to adjust slightly, especially if the other guys entire gameplan is to wait for you and then just throw straight left hands. Yet it worked all the god damn time. And while we are owning up to our mistakes, that is probably my worst pick of the year - I was ashamed. I should have seen Tarver was too cute as a southpaw and Woods too basic.
His hands are exceptionally quick, but he obviously uses up a lot of steam because in the past he's faded and he only tends to fire off those combinations in bursts.
