Top 5 only ladies. No honorable mentions. Discuss obviously, just no ****y honorable mentions in your final lists. I'm going to do this like a mirror image, a left hook for an orthodox fighter is the same skill as a right hook for a southpaw etc.

Bodywork is going to be one category except for jab to the body because that skill isn't heavily utilized. Whereas every man and his dog pounds away to the body, so rather than breaking it down into individual components its just going to be that way. I'm not going to break it down into individual counterpunches either like a cross, its simply going to be counterpunching as a whole category or it gets a bit silly.

Let me know if there is anything crucial I left out and I'll consider it.

I'll certainly consider ring generalship if other people agree with that omission.

I would have thought clean effective punching is sort of implicit within the punches section. You wouldn't include anybody that isn't clean and effective with those punches. Well, unless you're a bit weird. I suppose it could be 'accuracy'. If people want that as well so be it.

You can have the best hook in the business if it is devastating whenever you hit the target and still only hit the target with it 1/10. Or, you may have the most accurate hook in the business and not be devastating with it and still be considered the best hooker in the business.

Power is important but so is accuracy.

True, but I still think its sort of implied in this context. How can you really have the 'best' left-hook if its staggeringly inaccurate or **** weak? Thats either a very weak left-hook or nothing but raw power. It's a mix of everything we're looking for, presumably, but everyone is going to have their own criteria I suppose. I expected debates to arise about the way I formatted it.

You need to add right and left hook to the body.

I'm gonna do mine one at a time rather than off the cuff. I'm going to go down every division and look at each candidate and make some proper decisions instead of posting the shite I usually do. Starting with the key punch in boxing - the jab.

My top five's aren't in any order, just who I think the five best are.

Jab: Wlad Klitschko, Donaire, Kessler(;)), Narvaez, Ward

Jab to the body: Mayweather, Ward, Narvaez, Calderon, Mijares

Lead-hook (right-hook for southpaw): Juanma, Donaire, Gamboa, Mayweather, W Klitschko

Rear-hook (left-hook for a southpaw): Pac, Narvaez, Darchinyan, Segura, Miguel Acosta

Straight right hand (left hand for southpaw): Randall Bailey, Denis Lebedev, Toshiaki Nishioka, Mijares, Hopkins

Uppercut: JMM, Bute, Judah, Chocolaitito, Donaire

Bodywork: Bradley, Poonsawat, Salido, Cazares, Bute

Counterpunching: Mayweather, Calderon, Mijares, Narvaez, JMM

    Athletic gifts/miscellaneous
    ----------------------------

Speed: Gamboa, Donaire, Martinez, Khan, Rigo

Stamina: Williams, Rios, Ward, Bradley, Narvaez

Strength: Rios, Segura, Seda, W Klitschko, Ponce de Leon

    Power: Bailey(right hand), Lebedev(short left hand), Bute(rear uppercut), Donaire(left hook), Segura(at light-fly)

Chin: McCall, Orlando Salido, Abraham, Agbeko, Johnson

Heart: Katsidis, Acosta, Bradley, Arce, Mijares

Defence: Mayweather, Hopkins, Calderon, Narvaez, Mijares

As you can tell, I got a bit stuck on a couple of occasions and just stuck anyone down to make 5. I've hit a complete mental block on the subject of lead hooks and just stuck Klitschko down to make up the numbers.
