I think the 80s was more stacked, they had Samart too, but I have to say my favourite Thai in boxing is Sahaprom so I'm going 90s.
I prefer 80´s era because of the brothers Galaxy and the brothers Payakaroon like you said with Samart & Kongtoranee (who was not a world champion but he have the level of a world champion at his prime). But Both eras was a way more than good than modern day. 90's was also impressive too and not really far from that level of 80's in Muay Thai we said that the end of Golden Era was in 1997.
Yeah, Kong is the guy who fought Gilberto Roman right? He was a very good boxer. Agreed again, outside of Rungvisai and Moonsri, modern Thai guys generally aren't going into boxing imo. Man, if you don't mind me asking, can you give me a list of top Muay Thai guys from their golden era? I know about Dieselnoi and Samart, but nobody else. Which guys should I watch?
Yeah he also fought Khaosai Galaxy and Khaosai Galaxy down during the fight... originally Kongtoranee was against Ellyas Pical for IBF but he prefer Khaosai Galaxy who was more famous.. My list of Muay Thai Golden Era (of course there is a lot of names but my favorites one) : Samart Payakaroon, Dieselnoi, Kongtoranee Payakaroon, Robert Kaennorasing, Cherry Sor Wanich, Boonlai Sor.Thanikul, Samransak Muangsurin, Saensak Muangsurin, Wangchannoi Sor.Palangchai, Veeraphol Sahaprom, Samson Isaan, Namkabuan Nongkeepahuyuth, Namphon Nongkeepahuyuth, Superlek Sorn E-Sarn, Therdkiat Sitthepitak, Jomwo Chernyim, Panomtuanlek Hapalang, Langsuan Panyuthaphum, Karuhat Sor Supawan, Somrak Khamsing, Chatchai Paiseetong, Rainbow Sor Prantalay, Nokweed Davy, Sagat Petchyndee, Silapathai Jockygym, etc... etc... But I highly recommend to watch these Thai legendary fighters !!
