Yeah, legend is they got destroyed. Not sure if that's anything other than hear say, have never seen any concrete sources.
It's called self preservation. To bad the liberal western world can't adopt the same attitude from immigration through to cultural events. More power to Thailand.
Shame I think all combat sports let alot of young wayward men train and achieve something that perhaps would not have if they didnt have a release.
Every nation has the right to protect it's interests. White AND black people can't understand Asian culture but I do....it's not like ours; honour and tradition are held in high regard in Asian culture and protection of their interests is sacred - you either accept or you get out. The won't project their rules outside their country but in their countries what they say; goes. We can't understand that concept. Go Asia try claiming welfare, changing their laws or staying beyond your visa allowance. Not happening. Their game, their rules. It's also bitterly ironic that their staunch stand on issues like this has led to a 7% growth per annum to the Thai economy. They're doing something right.
Thanks for the welcome Pira, the company's good so of course I'll stick around. I'm inclinded to agree with Flea on this although it's probaly based on something semi concrete. Ayutthaya was a major regional player and had visitors from allover including England, Japan, Portugal, France, China all the usual suspects of the time. That's away too simplistic view, have you read much of the thread so far? What competion, as stated a few times before the Thais have no interest in MMA. So what competition are you on about? Feels like we're going round in cirlces here. They haven't banned Muay Thai or boxing just MMA that Thais don't really partcipate in anyway, as stated previously on the whole it's a foreign thing in Thailand.
I think that what ever the Government wants to do good for them. the Thai government doesn't have to please the rest of the world
