I am going to talk here about boxers who were expected to be capable of becoming world champions. For my part the most disappointing is Nawaphon Kakainha "Nawaphon Sor Rungvisai".He has great style, very aggressive and he had a draw in his first fight against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. Unfortunately he has a very poor defense. As a second name I would say Phai Pharob " Paipharob Kokietgym". Problems with the law, a stay with the monks and he was difficult to recognize in the ring. He failed to capitalize on his victories and his hype. The third name that comes to mind is Wittawas Basapean " Samartlek Kokietgym", who should have been world champion but he crossed paths with Naoya Inoue. I end up concluding with Phissanu Chimsunthom and Sirichai Thaiyen who were also expected as world champions, they were absolutely in all the galas. For Phissanu I know he had a lot of personal problems, which is a real shame he was and will remain my idol. I won't immediately mention Yuttapong Tongdee, Tasana Salapat, Tewa Kiram, Apichet Petchmanee they are not retired or too old with too much hard fight (it's the case of Nawaphon even if he have 32) but they seem like their careers are going in circles.
He was a world champion you can't really not say that, and he is considered like the best of all times in Muay Thai. The thread was about the thai boxers who didn't take a world title even with a strong hype and some good trainers, promotions etc..
Yaegashi beating the crap out of Basapean was a good time for me. ****ing loved Yaegashi. Why did Jomthong Chuwattana quit boxing? He had lots of promise, despite the loss to Uchiyama. I know he continued to have success in Muay Thai. Bit of a shame he retired.
Apparently yes, in fact it's probably the best name with Nawaphon without a world title in boxing history. He has tried his luck in the world several times and he has a good record.
Exact ! I read it in the articles of Serge Tréfeu, he is the former champion of Lumpinee 1991. Unfortunately in boxing he never fought someone...
He took too much damage during the KO against Uchiyama and that cooled him down. He is better at Muay Thai. And then boxing is not very well covered in visibility in Thailand.
