Thammanoon Niyomtrong vs. Byron Hasael Rojas Hernández II

Wednesday in Chonburi. WBA straw world title on the line, sixth defense of Niyomtrong (since claiming the belt from Rojas himself 2½ years ago).

Possibly to air on Channel 7 in Thailand, and/or televised in Nicaragua. I will post details as they come.

The champion has staged his entire reign thus far in Asia, with all but one defense at home in Thailand. Rojas, meanwhile, has spent the intervening time on an 8-0 (3) run on his own soil, all but one bout in his nation's capital (and the exception in his own rural hometown at the heart of the "coffee belt").

Although the bout will be on Thursday we have been informed that the bout is still set to be aired live, with a scheduled broadcast starting at 6PM local time, and scheduled to run for 2 hours. The bout will be aired on Thai channel 24, True4U as previously reported.

 

First three rounds were decent.

Hopefully the major change will be improvements to Rojas' conditioning...

He NEEDS to make a statement...and if this goes the distance he officially needs a new moniker (some would argue that update is overdue )

 

Skillwise he is probably the same guy...but remember he swept (IMO) rounds 1-3 before spending the rest of the fight semi-gassed and susceptible to Niyomtrong's clinching. If his conditioning has improved ...
