Niyomtrong is jabbing the belt line and emerging from the crouch to scratch at Buitrago's cheekbone with the overhand right before receding into the crouch again. Very nice touch-and-go strategy from Niyomtrong. Buitrago having trouble adapting, missing his 1-2 or getting blocked. Buitrago tries a lead left hook and Niyomtrong positions his right glove to bounce it away from his head. Niyomtrong approaches with his hands down, baiting Buitrago, pawing a jab. Obtuse-angle uppercut below the pecs by Buitrago. Niyomtrong jabs the body.

Wow...not for nothing (and not to make excuses for Buitrago's poor tactics or take credit away from Niyomtrong), but speaking of Thai home advantages...

Round 4

Niyomtrong is crouching in, dipping and weaving to either side with his guard up as he pokes Buitrago in the chest with the right hand and throws headhunting flurries jumping up at him. Buitrago is popping his jab and hooking off it, trying to get a bead on Niyomtrong and dial in his aim. A lot of near misses. Buitrago connecting with the jab as Niyomtrong takes chances diving in and pumping in underhanded body shots or flurrying up top.

Round 5

Niyomtrong is starting to jolt Buitrago's head sharply with the jab. Niyomtrong is staying low and roaring up at Buitrago with croupier-rakes with both hands, firing in combination, forcing Buitrago on the backfoot awkwardly with no recourse as Niyomtrong's head is held too low to counter with straight punches, and moving side to side to boot. Buitrago is starting to look lost.

This is shaping up to be one hell of a performance by the former kickboxing triple crown winner. Maybe his best since transitioning into boxing.

 

Yeah, first time was cute, but is he really going to do it 12x?

 

Round 6

Niyomtrong is marching up to Buitrago with confidence, ducking the jab and rolling up combinations with both hands. Buitrago resorts to hurling uppercuts into the stomach, then posting up against Niyomtrong, leaning his full weight down onto him with his chest pressing into his head. Niyomtrong is slinging trap-door hooks from behind the lead hip after swiveling for added torque.
