Thammanoon Niyomtrong vs. Carlos Buitrago II RBR

KO is reminding me a little of Narváez, actually.

 

Round 7

Niyomtrong is mauling Buitrago, throwing left hooks with a slight upward or downward curvature depending on whether he is hacking down at Buitrago's neck from above while pouncing on him (both feet leaving the canvas as he flies in) or sweeping an uppercut hybrid at the body. Buitrago is pumping the jab on instinct and badly missing the hook as he stumbles away. Buitrago drops a few left hooks downstairs and scores. Niyomtrong lands a HUGE body shot, doubling Buitrago over.

Not as skillful, obviously, but his mannerisms and disposition.

High-paced, harrying style with an emphasis on responsible (if frenetic looking) defensive movement.

 

Yeah but he outworked him, and landed the best single body shot of the round, which really affected Carlos.

 

Round 8

Niyomtrong is jabbing the body relentlessly, doing his partial split and dragging his fore leg in to elude Buitrago. The left jab has been reestablished by the visitor, and Buitrago is throwing it with confidence as well as increased accuracy. Most of his jabs are hitting guard, however. Niyomtrong is still getting in, peppering Buitrago with shots, and melting down and out. Niyomtrong is tiring, however, and tying up at times instead.

I overheard the Nicaraguan commentators say they have it 77-75. (hopefully for Niyomtrong...because even that is generous for their guy)

 

Round 9

Niyomtrong is relentlessly jabbing the belt line and turning Buitrago. Trying to get limber & loose, Buitrago is shaking his arms and letting them dangle by his side in between jabbing sorties. Niyomtrong is blocking while stepping laterally, then squatting and jabbing the body. Neither is really bothering with power punches anymore, just fencing with the jab - Niyomtrong low and more accurate and Buitrago high & busier.
