2/4, Bangkok, third defense of Niyomtrong's interim WBA strawweight title.

I'm very high on Chocorroncito and found their first match close enough for a rematch to not be unreasonable, but a little disappointed that Knockout hasn't moved towards unification with "full" WBA champ Hekkie Budler by now. That was October 2014.

There is good news, however. Budler makes his 5th defense of the "regular" title on March 19th against Byron Rojas, and the winner is going to be elevated to "super" champ status. The winner of Niyomtrong vs. Buitrago II will then have to meet the super champ in the ring by June to establish the solitary WBA champion in the division (with the "interim" and "regular" being phased out).

    :good

They are both top 5 in the world at 105lbs along with Budler, Niyomtrong's countryman Moonsuree (aka Wanheng) and young Japanese upstart Kosei Tanaka.

Buitrago is the protégé and training partner of p4p #1 Román González (his nickname "Choccoroncito" is a nod to his mentor's, "Chocolatito") and like him a disciple of the late Nicaraguan great Argüello.

Niyomtrong is a crossover from kickboxing, where he was a triple crown (Rajadamnoern/Lumpini/national) Muay Thai champ and has been considered a huge prospect since his debut in pro boxing.

I'll believe the WBA are phasing the interim and regular titles out when I see it...saying that's their plan for the coming weeks is all well and good but we know they'll be back...

Anyone giving Buitrago a shot here, or is this going to be more of the same?

More of the same means it could go either way.

I want Seansuree Moonsuree VS. Thammanoon Niyomtrong the first match was close but move on. Moonsuree beats him IMO, and they both beat Budler ugly ass.

My plan is to nap from 8pm when Lil Butt goes to his mom's until 1:30am. Staying up to watch this whole card until five in the morning would just wreak absolute havoc on my schedule. :verysad

Hope Knockout wins.. I always feel that the heat of Thailand can drain a lot of visiting fighters.. it is one hot place...

Some of the tricks the promoters play on visitors are brilliant, putting them in **** hotels miles away, saying the weigh in begins at x o'clock when it won't be until hours later, turning the air con off in changing rooms. Apparently Yota Sato's team thought they were going to be killed or something...some amazing stories out there from visiting fighters and their teams.

Heard stories of promotors in the US and UK doing the same thing to the "away" fighter. They'll pay for their airline and hotel bills and make everything as stressful and maddening as possible. Bring a fighter from Ghana over at the last possible second to pad some **** cans record in the UK is a longstanding tradition.
