Thammanoon Niyomtrong vs. Toto Landero RBR

Filipino anthem is super upbeat.

 

Niyomtrong KO1 Landero, rather brutally, in the facial hair battle. That peach fuzz is embarrassing.

 

Well his stablemates Petch and Yodmongkol set par at what, 2 and a half rounds? So if Knockout even carries Landero three it'll be the most competitive match all night.

 

Round 1

Niyomtrong is using a lot of body-feints, driving his weight forward and bending the lead knee, pumping the left jab partway out but never actually leaving its holster. Niyomtrong walking Landero down, slowly, patiently. Landero hopping around needling the face of Niyomtrong with jabs between the gloves and lashing down with long right hands while turning him on the outside. Niyomtrong has barely gotten off a punch, just feeling the challenger out. A couple of lunging body jabs by Niyomtrong, picked off with a downward swat of the left glove by Landero, standing up straight, bouncing on his toes, keeping a healthy distance, giving the champ plenty of respect. Left hook on the body feinted by Niyomtrong and Landero jumps laterally clear.

Round 2

Landero keeps placing the jab on the face of the champ and cheekily hurls an overhand right while pivoting by the ropes, grazing the ear. Niyomtrong gets mad and chases him off with a powerful 1-2. Landero pounds the pavement, making a hasty retreat. Landero able to just barely avoid paying for any of his transgressions so far, buzzing in and out like a gnat, stinging Niyomtrong with quick light jabs and landing more or less at will between the gloves or above them on the brow. Some pretty fancy matador style moves from Landero, stepping backward to slip a punch and returning with a light 1-2 of his own, then veering off to one side as Niyomtrong mounts another counter, just a half-beat too late. Niyomtrong is coming JUST short with some explosive, fully loaded straight bombs at range but connecting on some body shots.

Round 3

Niyomtrong is starting to wake up now and warm to his task, jabbing high and low, confounding Landero who can't seem to fathom what a stark difference in hand speed the champ is now showing. Niyomtrong claps up top with a right hand on Landero's temple and he is hurt and backpedaling. Niyomtrong alternating body and head jabs, causing Landero's guard to resemble an elevator on the fritz. Niyomtrong is picking off Landero's double jabs by punching softly into them with his right fist, neutralizing them in midair and then hooking the body or jabbing the face while Landero is compromised. Niyomtrong is pressuring, head low, gloves up by his ears, bobbing and weaving, hitting the body and blocking jabs.
