Thammanoon Niyomtrong vs. Toto Landero RBR

Ugh, back now, but quality sucks. Everything looks all pixellated. Hopefully it clears up fast.

 

Round 4

Niyomtrong is tossing 1-2s and reversing them, leading with hard shotgun rights and following up with stiff jabs after Landero thinks it's become safe to drop his guard after blocking the former punch, getting zapped with the latter and made to blink and scurry backward. Landero doing his best, flurrying and keeping his distance but Niyomtrong showing considerable reach with the long jab to his body, able to get a surprising amount of purchase on it and land it hard.

This is a surprisingly good fight; their styles mesh well.

 

Round 5

Niyomtrong is jabbing at the chest and missing by an inch. Landero dares to lean forward and smack Niyomtrong on the hips loudly with an open-palm left & closed-fist right, then pulls out. Niyomtrong lunges at him with a 1-2 and Landero recedes into the ropes, BARELY dodging, and then rotating away, turning Niyomtrong and fluttering some jabs. Ole! Niyomtrong throwing hard stuff now, just chugging along slow & steady, applying pressure, not jabbing his way in, just unloading when he's just inside the strike zone. Landero doing a magnificent job on defense, barely getting touched by a guy intent on living up to his name and scoring a Knockout.

Question is whether he possesses the stamina to keep stifling Niyomtrong like that. Seven rounds to go. Intriguing stuff..

 

Round 6

Niyomtrong is falling in and spearing rights at the body, coming up a little short. Landero too mobile and nimble to be caught standing in one spot from outside. Landero putting the jab in Niyomtrong's grill nonstop. Short looping rights behind the jab while turning Niyomtrong, and Landero has managed to cut the corner of his eye. Niyomtrong grins after just missing with a sweeping bomb as Landero dances outside. He seems confident he will connect and end it with a single punch sooner or later. Niyomtrong tries establishing a jab thrown side-arm while crab-walking in, partially crouched. Landero just bats it away with light jabs in multiples while constantly moving. Niyomtrong keeps winging right hand leads at the body and head but Landero is always scissoring his legs and riding everything that even glances him.

Uh, wow, so I guess nobody has really considered this eventuality, but - if Landero does lift the belt, is he facing Zhong next in his 1st defense?
