    Thank God.

However, this means that Valuev-Chagaev will happen in June or July, and then the winner will probably have a voluntary defense against a fringe contender in November.

So forget the idea of unification for 2008.

Chagaev vs Vlauev II should be a very competive fight. Caagaev won the first fight by showing good defense and coutner punching skills, but Valuev win over Liakovich was impressive and if he fights that way Chagaev is going to have to switch things up a bit.

Its a pick em' type of fight. I hope Chagaev wins, but even more than that I hope the winner has the stones to fight Wlad for a 3 belt title unification match.

I disagree.I would much rather see Valuev v Klitschko.

Golota was on shaky legs against Mike "The BUM" Mollo.
I'd give Golota a slight chance against Samuel Peter, but against Ruslan Chagaev.. he's dead meat, Chagaev wins with ease.

Valuev did look better last time out against Liakhovich, if he can bring that to this fight then possibly he can get revenge against Chagaev this time.

Which I'd be happy with, because I think ultimate Wladimir vs Valuev is much more marketable than Wlad - Chag.

Valuev did win every round vs lyachovich and it did seem like he has improved his punches and defense. He certainly deserves a shot far more than Krasniqi who I dont think should be top fifteen at this point. CHagaev Valuev one was not boring in my opinion. Just tactical. There were a lot of good exchanges...but honestly, its pretty tough to hurt Valuev and Valuev has a hard time getting leverage on a guy a foot shorter. Considering Chagaev already had an easier defense..i think Valuev is better then some mandatories. Ray Austin ring a bell.

Only if Wlad or Valuev held the WBA. I am tired of all of these meaningless title defenses, while people complain that there isn't a real Champion. Let Wlad unify the the titles, then we can see that fight. It would be huge. Or, if Valuev won the title, it would be huge. However, that means we have to wait even longer, and hope that they can make a unification with Don King involved.

    Well thats what I meant.

I expect Valuev to beat Chagaev in the reamatch, than after that he should get a shot v Klit to unify.

I don't really have interest in a Klit v Chagaev fight tbh.

A Vaulev fight would be big. :deal

I think Chag, being managed by Kohl, is least likely to unify with Wlad.

And if Valeuv were to beat Chag, that would probably make unification even less likely, cuase King is still with Valuev.

So we are screwed out of the WBA being brought into the unification fold, regardless.

But at least the WBA wouldn't allow Chag to fight Krasniqi. After he just came off a loss to Thompson, then for Chag to pick HIM!!!!!!! Good GOD, Chagaev is turning out to be one lame titleholder. Someone put him out of his misery...........LOL

    Really bad news for Chagaev!

He would have earned quite a decent sum of money defending his title against an opponent who seems to be over the hill.Whats more a fight against Luan who is well known in Germany even among casual sport fans would have enhanced his future markebility in the German market and ensured him some very good paychecks.
Money is the name of this game.Luan would have been the perfect opponent for Chagaev at this stage of his career.

This is good. Wlad is caught up in mandatories the rest of the year anyway and might be able to fight the winner next year.

I hope Valuev wins this and goes on to unify with Klitschko next year. A world heavyweight unification bout for 3 of the 4 main belts between these two giants would be just what boxing needs. It would be a highly marketable and interesting fight and I´d certainly pay to watch it.

    :happy

If Valuev and Peter both win, DK has already said that their next fights would be to unify those two belts.

It's the same thing as posting a chick in your avatar that would never touch you. That's what's wrong with it.

If you have to ask that, you aren't a boxing fan. PERIOD.

He already did, and is now ranked amongst their top ten.
