his legacy: fishnet photos, running from Trinidad, and quitting against a guy 2 weight divisions below his normal class.
He used the American flag to whipe his ass after coming out with the Mexican national anthem. pitiful in my books. Mexico had no right being represented last night. He is a traitor.
He has stated in the past that it was in honor of his mother's roots as well as his. Granted, the business side of him saw it as marketing and endearing himself to a demographic that was ticked about the Chavez fight. So is Tito Ortiz a traitor as well when he comes out to the Mexican and American flags? Does it even matter? Oscar is a crossover star whose appeal touched people worldwide.
As much as I think Oscar is done, I also hope he can do another fight and go out as a winner. He deserves to leave the sports on a winning note.
Golden Boy, don't worry. Your good looks will be back in a few weeks. You'll mesmerize more homos here like you used to.
i heard they were going to take down his bronze statue in front of the staples centre after his pitiful performance.
Some of you are some pretty sad people. Is there not enough Oscar bashing threads out there to comment in? Please stop hijacking an appreciation thread as we would not do it to your fave fighter. Respect. This content is protected This content is protected
Sorry. I said that in fondness for the Golden Boy. He's undisputably more good looking than Manny. :good
:roflThat was actually pretty good.:good My Filipino brother in laws dad was thinking an Oscar win but we both came away with an even greater appreciation for both. Apparently he went to school with the VP of the Phillip ines and was friend with the senator(?) Apparently one of them was a mascot for the team my BIL's dad played on. Now look at him!!:yikes My sister and I giggled and commented how you Filipinos all know each other Good times Oh and for the sake of the thread.... This content is protected
Manny: You're still my idol... Oscar: No, you are my idol... (..or something to that effect). That dialogue in the middle of the ring last night made me both happy and nostalgically sad: happy to see a worthy champion getting and carrying the torch for a new generation, sad that a winsome and gentlemanly hero had to be beaten so bad and a golden era had passed... It was Oscar, like him or hate him, who made the non-heavyweight class get well-deserved notice and payday. It was him who made it possible for fighters to control their own destiny by putting up a promotional company where big fighters can be parcel of... For that (and other POSITIVE impact he made), a salute to one of the sports enduring icon...
