I wanna applaud and give credit to HBO for doing something great and contributing greatly to the sport of boxing by giving another hardworking, hidden, unknown who happens to be a great fighter but never got a chance to prove it.

Sergei Dzinziruk won a gold medal in 1996 and since then has stayed undefeated for 15 years beating everyone in front of him including winning a title in 2005 but NEVER getting a decend payday or an exposure to the world to prove his greatness that he deserves.

What I really really appreciate about HBO is how often they take their pampered superstar and feed him to a hungry unknown and give the unknown a huge incentive to fight for a chance of a lifetime and prove himself.

And if we look back, we can say thanks to HBO usually they gave everyone who wanted it a chance on the spotlight to prove himself. Or at least a lot of hardworking fighters that would still be in obscurity if it wasn't for HBO getting their back.

I remember thinking how good Margarito was and was sad that he never could get a chance to prove himself.
So they took Margo and gave him a shot vs. their superstar Cotto. Margo fought his guts out and in one of greatest performances I ever saw grinded Cotto down to a TKO win.
They forced Taylor to defend his title against the hungry Pavlik.
They gave Baldomir a shot against Gatti.
They gave Ward a shot against Gatti.
They gave Kotelnik a shot against Bradley
They gave Maidana a shot vs. Khan
They gave Collazo three shots. vs. Hatton, Mosley and Berto
They gave Karmazin a shot vs. Ouma
They gave Pirog a chance vs. Jacobs
They gave Clottey a chance vs. Cotto
They younger Cotto a chance vs. Diaz
They gave Sturm a chance vs. De La Hoya
They gave Vitali a shot vs. Lennox when we all know Lennox was not about to give him one.....

I could go on and on but they do something great because as u can notice in most cases the hungry starving contender puts on a fight of a lifetime and prevails over the champ.
We both know if the superstars weren't forced they would have NEVER faced this guys. But luckily HBO pushes them and gives other guys a chance.

Now Sergio Martinez is pretty ballsy guy and willing to fight everyone but I still doubt he would willingly give a great technician like Dzinziruk a shot if it wasn't for HBO.

So come March 12, 2011 I expect Sergei to put on a performance of a lifetime and show what he is made of. Wheather he will win against an awesome fighter like Martinez is one thing. But the positive in all of this is that Dzinziruk will finally get a chance to make the last 14 years count by putting it all on the line for UNDISPUTED MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP of the world.

    Thank you HBO.

His frame should easily support 160'lbs. This is a great fight. Top drawer.

He has been at 154 his whole career. Dont see how six pounds can make a difference. Plus he is fighting another jr. Middleweight too. So it's not like he is a smaller guy going up against a bigger champ.
They are both former jr. Middleweight champs

Yea, it's great. There has been a lot of talk about how good Dzin is and it's great that he can finally show what he really has. This is a very interesting fight, and I'd love to see how Martinez handles a skilled boxer.

I've only seen one fight, but I was impressed by the jab and control. You have to respect the guy for taking a big step up to Martinez at MW. A great fight for real boxing fans.
