I'm just saying fighters have said more outrageous things than what Deontay said. I'm not defending it by any means but I don't think anyone really took what he said literally as if he really wanted to kill a man in the ring.

During the Rumble in the Jungle the fans were chanting "Ali Kill him" and Howard Cosell talked about it and clarified that the "kill him" part was only "in the sporting sense of the word".

When Deontay said that I never got the sense that he literally wanted to kill anyone he was just explaining the mindset that you have to have as a fighter. You ain't playing pattycakes in there.

nah.... Im a big Wilder fan, he has said this multiple times in interviews in between fights in casual conversation interviews that had little to do with hyping an upcoming fight. I dont see the point in trying to rationalize it or spin it as if he didnt mean what he said.

Hello kirk, you are about engage with shadow. Shadow will never say he is wrong, he will talk himself in circles and make a complete ass of himself with paragraphs of gibberish rather than admit defeat. Best to reply once then just ridicule

I'm not justifying it in any way shape or form, I just don't think him saying that makes him a POS or a bad guy. I don't think he was hyping a fight, either, that was the wrong way to describe it. However wrong it sounded, I just saw it as his way of trying to articulate the mindset that he needs to have as a fighter.

I just admitted I was wrong in my response to kirk, that I shouldn't have said it was to hype a fight. I just saw it as a way that Deontay was trying to "act tough" or articulate the mindset that you have to have as a fighter.

Did it come across well? Absolutely not, am I trying to justify it? Absolutely not. All I'm saying is that I don't think him saying that makes him a POS or a bad guy. It was just his way to try to act like he's tough or that boxing is the hurt business.

I would agree with you except Ive seen him say it multiple times and then go on to explain what he means when the person he says it to seems shocked and he explicitly explains that he literally means that a part of him literally does want to kill someone. Ive seen him explain exactly what he means.

Wilder obviously has a lot of love in him, and shows most of his opponents much admiration and respect after he KO's them, even in scary situations like the Szpilka KO, he started praying for Artur to get up.

He also has a part of him that wants to kill the right opponent (probably an opponent that he dislikes). Hes got two extreme ends to his character in that regard.

So while I think hes talking foolishly, and I dont think he truly understands the magnitude of what hes saying and the weight of what it would be, I do think he meant he literally does want to kill an opponent.

When he talks about it he says it as though he's talking about a different person to himself.

There's Deontay Wilder and there's the Bronze Bomber :

He's saying that when he's in that ring he turns into a different person, and has a mindset where he shows no remorse to his opponent. Saying he wants a body on his record is a little much though, definitely a little disturbing like the guy has a screw loose, but like you said there's obviously a lot of love in the man.

And I think this mindset could explain why he lost to Fury, maybe he didn't have the disturbing mindset going into the rematch as he would have if he wanted to so-called "body" Fury. Going in to the rematch he kept saying about how he liked and respected Fury. Maybe he was being too nice and respectful to Fury because he liked him so much, maybe talking all this crap about how he wants to body people gives him some kind of a fire inside that he needs for him to reach down deep and reach his true potential.

I'm not a psychologist or anything but obviously there's a reason why he keeps saying this. And again to me it seems like he believes he has an alter ego : There's Deontay Wilder then there's the Bronzer Bomber. I mean we know that psychology is a big part of boxing. Max Baer went from being a funny guy clowning around in the ring to a guy that turns into a devasating KO puncher out of nowhere.

And as bad as Wilder saying he wants a body on his record is, how does saying that compare to Fury's outrageous comments and rants a couple of years back? Boxers obviously have weird ways in which they motivate themselves. If Wilder believes that he wants a body on his record, as disturbing as that is, if that's what motivates him to take his game to the next level, then I guess we need to accept him for having such dark thoughts and expressing them in such a way. I just personally don't take what he's saying literally, I think it's more of just how he describes being a fighter and essentially him "flipping a switch" when that bell rings.

I bet twenty quid on a Wilder KO and I couldn't be happier not to win any money from that bet.

Ah - so, it's ok if he blames an imaginary friend... ... ... ?

Although, that doesn't explain his rationalization, here...[approx 2:38]
