Doesn't surprise me.. Though It wouldn't bother me that much If he gets that title dream out of his head and just beats up no hopers for a little money like he has been doing the last 5 years. Getting in the ring with someone who can punch is out of the question though. I hope he learned his lesson.
I guess it wouldn't be too bad if he just fought a few cotton wool fist scrubs over in Russia who stand zero chance of winning and who couldn't crack an egg with a sledgehammer. Problem is his delusion still probably has him believing he's capable of winning a legitimate world title up at CW despite him being brutally sparked out yet again.
Hahaha. You ****er 25 years. Lol! To be honest I thought I made an error and had to go back and check... Serge strikes again haha.
This is the worrying thing for me. It's like a vicious circle. I definitely think he'll have another fight. But even if he says it's a farewell fight, what happens if he performs in it and he feels good? If that happens, will he then think 'I feel great, I'll have another one' ? If you read that interview I posted, Big Roy says that if everybody jumps on his back and demands that he retires, it'll just make him dig his heels deeper into the ground. But what can you do? He's now on his second trainer since Alton Merkerson left him about 3 years ago. Very worrying.
I'm wondering if it's really his ego at this point. Surely he loves the adoration of the crowd and getting his hand raised occasionally, but he's well aware he's a shell of what he used to be I'm sure. Is there a self-hatred with him? Like because he can't do what he used to do, and thus his identity as "Roy Jones Jr: The best pound for pound fighter in the world" is stripped and gone for good, it's like he's punishing himself for it just getting knocked the **** out over and over. If he keeps going and keeps getting knocked out cold, I would seriously wonder if this is the case. I mean, I can see how B-Hop has continued all of these years because he actually could upset the odds (something he's done ever since leaving prison) and his ego could be fed by beating all of these younger guys. But not in Roy's case. Could be multifactoral; don't think there's a single explanatory factor for it - I'm sure he loves the money, attention, and the sport in general, too.
I am still surprised Roy got up after the first knockdown... It was a way harder shot than a few that have put him out.
