Whitaker landed the most punches on Chavez EVER by any opponent except Meldrick Taylor, in the 8th round.

Whitaker out landed Chavez 311 to 220 in punches landed and landed 46% of his power punches.

Chavez won two rounds and maybe three rounds if your being generous.

Oh, Compubox numbers are ridiculous. Also, it doesn't matter the tally of the punches landed over the entire course of the fight because judging is based on 12 separate fights. Again, Whitaker won his 6 or 7 rounds more emphatically, but not so emphatic they can be scored as 10-8. Chavez clipped is 5, 6, or 8 rounds (however many you give him) by a much more narrow margin.

Alright, so you agree he won a bare minimum of three rounds. Is it so inconceivable that the other close rounds could have swung the other direction, say 5 of the remaining 9 rounds? OK, maybe 2 or 3 of the remaining rounds.

 

Agreed! Duva was similar to Dundee he was a connections guy and a motivator.

 

One of the biggest robberies I've seen, Chavez got schooled in that fight.

 

Ramirez beat him on Split Decision. Sweat Pea put up a helluva effort but fell short.

Pea landed basically half of all the power punches he threw at Chavez while Chavez missed. The vaunted body attack of Chavez? Nowhere to be seen.
What CLEAR rounds did you give Chavez?

 

People just do not like perfection they always have to find SOMETHING wrong. The Ramirez fight was freaking highway robbery it was not even close.
I remember about 25/30 people all getting together to watch the Chavez vs Whitaker fight and by the 7th round people started to LEAVE because Pea was doing whatever he wanted to Chavez and Chavez was LOST.
Al Bernstien who is a great commentator had it 118-110 for Whitaker.
Unofficial press scorecard was 116-112 for Whitaker.
It was so corrupt that one judge had Chavez WINNING THE FIGHT GOING INTO THE 10TH ROUND- that is freaking CRAZY.
