I guess this is the end. What an ambassador for the sport. Respectful, kind, determined and with great visions in life. Now he's going to be a hero IN and OUT of boxing, what a life he has led so far.

A legendary champion in boxing with an extraordinary record of 45 wins to 2 losses. Never outclassed in the ring ever, never losing more than 2 rounds in any fight, best HW punchstats, 2nd highest HW knockout percentage and packing one hell of a chin rivalling that of George Chuvalo/Muhammad Ali/Oliver McCall etc etc. A first ballot hall of fame for sure and somebody who will be mentioned alongside champs of past eras, names like Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, Rocky Marciano, Jack Johnson and many others. One of the best h2h heavyweights the sport has ever seen.

He even managed to pull off one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the sport. Snapping his ACL in his prime years. Nobody thought he would ever come back as it is an extremely serious injury, to most, a career ending one. Many NBA/NFL players who tear their ACLS never come back and even if they do, they are never the same again. But Vitali rose to the occasion, came back in fine style and completely dominated Sam Peter in their epic encounter in 2008. The entrance was also one to be remembered, it still gives me chills to this day. Coming out to AC/DC's Hells Bells as Champion Emeritus, 1400 days since his retirement and with all of the past legendary champions introducing him. George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield and Iron Mike himself. Fking crazy. Not only this but he continued to dominate until his recent retirement. Hasn't lost since his 2003 bout with Lewis, a bout which should have had a rematch as it was extremely inconclusive.

Him and his brother Wladimir Klitschko have also been some of the most magnanimous boxers as well. Being involved in many charitable organizations/activities throughout their years as boxing champions. They have worked with UNESCO in the past and they even started their own charity organization called the K2 Fund (Klitschko Brothers Fund), helping many less fortunate souls around the world.

As much as I want Vitali to retire with all his faculties intact, loads of money in his bank account, successful etc. A part of me wishes for him to fight once more. Just once.

Maybe make another return as Champion Emeritus AGAIN. And finally closing the book in his legendary career.

You will never be forgotten, Vitali Klitschko- Dr. Eizenfaust (Ironfist)

Pretty good post. He was always the genuine heavyweight champ to me despite the recent announcements calling his brother 'world heavyweight champion' which makes me cringe.

It doesn't seem that he will get far in his election cause or whatever so, when he loses that hopefully we will see him back.

I think he'll do alright if he continues this pace. He's been making a big difference the past weeks.

    Very touching post.

Vitali is indeed a one of a kind HW champ, unlikely to be seen again.

You're so cool man, leave the thread now and cease the trolling in this emotional thread.

    What a loser. Utterly pathetic!

Vitali was a good champion who was usually fun to watch, particularly during the stretch from the Lewis fight until his December 2005 retirement. I think he tends to be overrated by some, and underrated by others. He was a solid fighter with a good beard and a good ring IQ. He lacks a true signature victory and will, ironically, always be best remembered for his bout with Lennox, which I'm sure will remain a heated topic of debate for boxing fans for years to come. But he was consistent and has some solid victories, nonetheless.

I hope he does great as a world leader, an for TKO6, everybody knows lewis would of rematched him if thought he had a good chance to win. There were several big fights for lewis , Vitali would of just been another big payday, but he knew it was more then likely a payday he does not win.

To me, vitali on his best day would not be beat by anybody in the heavyweight boxing history, for people that follow him understand, he was much more dangerous before his surgery on his shoulder after the byrd fight. He had a much stronger punch.

Honestly I always believed, luck was not his way with byrd, kind of like the lewis fight, an it was prior injury, an he just re-injured it. The man was awesome.
