Gonzagas kicks are good, he can't land them with the consistancy of Aerts, but the impact of the kick on CroCop was right up there with anything I've ever seen in K1. He did train with Chute Boxe for a decent part of his career. Things change in MMA, GSP shouldn't outwrestle people the way he does, Manhoef shouldn't outbox Nishijima, Lindland shouldn't get taken down by Busta.
If it is its got nothing to do with consistency, they all lose because they all have to fight the best guys regularly, like in mma, and unlike boxing.
Good post If its such a small pool..then get in there if you can compete...they pay top money.. You know why its such a small pool?? Because they are the cream of the crop. Show me an better KB org Watch Max...smaller guys..who do they have?? the Buakaws of the world..the best!
Not really talking about their records, that is as you say a function of fighting the same guys over and over. More that we consider them the best strikers, but they never fight against anybody but the same small group of people in what is essentially a dieing sport. I think the gap between the top MMA strikers and K1 is closing and possibly gone altogether. K1 max is a different story as there are alot of kickboxing orgs for guys that weight and you can get a sense for who really is the best. Although with K-1's rule set not being the best for straight up Muay Thai guys, I would bet on the Lumpinee champ agains the K1 max champ in a MT fight.
It's hard to be consistent in kickboxing. It isn't boxing you know. Look at Matt Skelton. Compare his K1 and boxing career. Here's the reality past prime Skelton = 21 WINS & 2 LOSSES under boxing rules Prime Skelton = 17 WINS & 7 LOSSES under kickboxing rules Past prime Botha = 2 WINS & 10 LOSSES under kickboxing rules Prime / past prime Botha = 45 WINS & 4 LOSSES under boxing rules.
Actually I have, and nobody ever did that to CroCop. Aerts had the most brutal kicks, but what Gonzaga did to CroCop was right up there. I think your just upset about a K1 guy getting outstruck for some reason.
Prove me wrong. Gonzaga's kick against crocop is part of the routine in K1. It's good but nothing special. There's actually many more spectacular and brutal kicks in this sport...
yea, that was just run of the mill. The guy looked like hed been killed, I realize it doesn't fit with your world view for some reason, but that kick was ungodly hard. Where are you even going with this?
Well you show me a clip with the same thud...I know the question is that kick is up there..It was a perfect kick..Yes I agree with you Kaman is better than Gonzaga...I know..I think we know that... Gonzaga has tremendous power in that big leg of his..yes it a big heavy leg..no one in K1 even Hunt would have withstood that kick
You haven't. I'm not talking about the fact that "nobody" ever did that to crocop. I'm talking about you telling me that "the impact of the kick on CroCop was right up there with anything I've ever seen in K1." If that is true for you , then you haven't seen much... Seriously , i can already think of one kick which was pretty much like gonzaga's...perfect example Brecht Wallis vs Carter Williams it actually was more brutal than gonzaga's and you come here and tell me that it was "up there with anything i've ever seen in K1" ? You gotta be joking.
I don't get it, is your point to show that youve seen K1 kickboxing and we should be impressed? Congrats, welcome to the club. Or is to say that the kick that had CroCop sprawled out on the floor with his leg bent at an unnatural angle wasn't impressive because there have been a couple dozen harder ones in K1? It wasn't the single hardest kick ever, but its pretty hard to distinguish between kicks like that and say what Aerts did to Hug. How is one any more impressive than the other?
No and you know it. My point was very simple to understand... Let me recap again... You come here and say " "the impact of the kick on CroCop was right up there with anything I've ever seen in K1."" Then i tell you..."then you haven't seen much"... and you know the rest... (are you serious about your last question ? )
I fail to see how you can objectively say that kick wasn't that good, I just don't see how thats a viable argument. A rediculously hard kick is a rediculously hard kick no matter who throws it, even if you don't like them. It's just an assinine argument especially given the fact that most of the great kickers in K1 had a chance to do the same and failed. And yes, I have seen alot of kickboxing. No that kick wasn't as technical as a great kick from K1, but the damage it did speaks for itself.
