This is just me giving all of you good folks of the ESB Classic Boxing Forum a big thanks. Seriously fellas, from deep down, thank you. Thank you for providing so many interesting and thoughtful conversations, views and opinions. Thank you for vastly contributing to my knowledge of the sport and for encouraging me to pursue my love of it. Thank you all for almost always being respectful and considerate. Thank you for the heated arguments that forced me to get to know my **** so I didn't sound like a total ass (Which I hope I don't). Thanks for all the many hours of entertainment, for the laughs and for the unique perspectives. Honestly, before I came here I knew just about next to nothing about boxing. My first post was on the training board asking for advice on what I should do for an inured pinky knuckle accrued from hitting the bag without gloves. I didn't even know who guys like Carlos Monzon, Dick Tiger, Sam Langford Willie Pep, Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Benny Leonard or Tommy Hearns were, let alone appreciate their greatness. I didn’t realize how technically brilliant Joe Louis’ punches were, how shafted fighters like Langford and Wills were, how tough Lamotta was or how hard Marciano could punch. I didn’t realize how significant the Schmeling-Louis fights were, how great of an accomplishment Greb beating Tunney was, or just how devastating the Chavez fight was to Taylor, nor could I appreciate the subtle skills of men like Walcott, Johnson or Moore. These days I like to think I have enough knowledge to contribute to the overall proceedings and hopefully add to other people’s appreciation of the sport and it's participants. I don't know how these Off Topic threads are viewed, but don’t worry, I don't plan on making it a habit I just wanted to say this board rocks, almost (I'm looking at you, McGrain) all of you regular posters rock, and that you've really had an impact on my love of the game. Oh, and just to make it a little less OT: Who would win if Naseem Hamed and 12 clones fought George Foreman?
Pardon? This is Maxmomer, I've been a regular here for over a year and have damn near 2,000 posts. I was just thinking about how much I knew about boxing before I came here and how much I know now thanks to this board and wanted to show it some appreciation. I'm being completley serious. I would delete the post if everyone wanted me to if they all think it's clogging the board or anything, but I honestly don't know how.
Thanks for vouching. The last thing I expected was for someone to mistake me for a troll, thought I was fairly well known round these parts.
I'm surprised to hear that, to be honest. Your knowledge has always seemed sound to me. You must be a fast learner.
It helped that for the past year I've had abso-****ing-lutely nothing to do but watch movies, play with knives, gank the **** out of people on Age of Conan and sit at my computer pursuing my other interests such as boxing, werewolves and nun fetish porn.
It's pretty ****ing sweet. I was never into MMORPG's before, and I absolutely loathe World of Warcraft, but Age of Conan is damn fun. The quests are all entertaining, the combat is sweet. You can do combos and cut peoples heads off and ****. The PVP is really well done too. Very immersive. If you've ever played Oblivion, it's kind of like that but with other players. I got to level 31, then just kind of lost interest, but that's just my pattern with RPG games, I get really into them for a couple weeks, then stop playing for a while before I come back hard for a couple more weeks. You definitely would want to check it out if you're into those kinds of games.
Appreciation is always a breath of fresh air. This Forum is my own favorite place on the Web. Thanks for opening up.
Maxmomer, please be accepting of my apology mate, as the above question was meant to be placed into the question below at the time.. ".........Rocky Balboa fit into the H/W of all time" Im in no way posting messages on this site for the sake of disrespecting any other member, although Hand Grenade seems quite interested in offering himself to be ridiculed for his personal enjoyment. Keep punching mate.
