for saving the event. aj still has good quality opponent. fights should always have a back up fighter in contract in case of this situation.

Definitely. Could of been a lot worse. Big opportunity and a decent payout no doubt for Takam so can see why he took it.

Yes, and Takham would be the best man Wilder fought too. Not a bad sub. But AJ needs a legit top ten opponent next.

Pulve pulled out, not AJ's fault, Takam was former top 10.

This is a good measuring stick, Parker/Povetkin. Hope Takam has been training

Takam is legit top ten. Don't let the boxrec ranking fool you. He's lower than he should be because he doesn't mind getting in with anyone and risking his record.

Takam arguably is legit top 10. Based solely on resume he probably isn't but that's because he's only ever fought A class or C class opposition, meaning he has no standouts wins over fringe level contenders to consolidate his H2H ability (although he should have gotten the nod against Perez IMO).

I know a lot of posters here don't like giving a fighter credit based on his losses but if you're as competitive as Takam was in losing causes against the likes of Povetkin and Parker then that is a better indicator of ability than a razor close win over a shot Chisora, or a freak injury stoppage over Mansour if you ask me. Plenty of people have Whyte and Breazeale in their top ten, I think Takam beats both of those guys H2H.

I see Joshua didn't go no where near Ortiz.

Yeah I think it's a decent fight given the circumstances. Because of his durability, despite perhaps not being quite as good as Pulev (although it's close), he may still present more of a challenge for Joshua.

Yeah he should fight that ill old man who recently managed to **** up a fight with the WBC's prize clown by giving him an out. I'm beyond caring about old man Ortiz. He's only got himself to blame at this point.

I think that you are right, he should fight him, after all he is the other mandatory. That is if he has no problem with the ped accusation.

If he's still the WBA mando then he should get it next but Ortiz has hardly done much of late to justify his 'boogeyman' tag with boxing hipsters. In fact if he wasn't Cuban I doubt anyone would give a **** about him.
