Thanks to Cain , the absolutely insane Lesnar hype is finally over..

So how do you rate the klitschko's ground game really? they might fit in a ''top 10 above of lesnar'' but not so much in Top 10 MMA HW.

It is tough after that.

 

no standup, no ground game, no cardio, and very little experience.

he simply got gifted that belt because he was given:
1) an old fighter who was out of the game for a long time and who looses 1/3 of his fights
2) gifted with a fighter 1 fight away from retirement
3) Murrr = well Murrr won against him also.
4) got lucky against Carwin who was beating him senseless, that was until Carwin gassed badly 4 minutes in a 25 minute fight.

So really, what has Brock truly achieved if you look past all the hype? There are many more deserving fighters out there.

 

Brock is human. Shock. You guys need to enjoy the hype sometimes. If you can't enjoy the hype in a beast like Brock being on his 3rd title defence in his 7th bout then you don't appreciate or understand what it takes to fight.

 

Top five;

1. Werdum (beat the man in his last fight, making up for previous inconsistency)
2. Fedor (still has an amazing skillset and consistency)
3. Cain (quality win against Brock)
4. JDS (has that win over Fabricio, as well as a comprehensive victory over Big Country)
5. Lesnar (not great and well-rounded, but dominant win over Mir and squeezed by dangerman Carwin)

I ain't that big on Overeems credentials yet, despite how big, scary and brutal he is

Brett Rogers was pathetic in their fight. Absolutely pathetic. Overeem just misses out. Werdums win might've been a 'fluke' (still had to apply it) and might've been getting battered before it, but that win over Fedor makes up for his previous shortcomings, and puts Werdum at no.1 FOR NOW.

If Fedor doesn't fight soon, and JDS-Cain get it on, I would have the winner of that at no.1. Hard to do at the moment with so many inconsistent performers and upsets happening.

 

Agreed, I was really rooting for him and think he can come back, maybe not against any guys who are primarily strikers though....although to be fair, not against anyone who can stuff his td's eitheratsch

Why would we buy into hype ? Hype is nothing, especially the Lesnar hype. Sorry man, but having a 3 title defence within 7 MMA bout isn't an exploit when that belt was first offered to you by the president of the organisation to make some extra buck ! Why did Machida needed to beat 6 guy and the 7th is a title fight, while ****in Brock Lesnar in 2 fight get to the belt and win it the 3 ? Because the HW division is weak ? Because there is alot more talent at 205 ? Or only because Dana White felt like he wanted Brock as a champion and made him fought Couture when he wanted to ?

I understand what it take to fight and I understand that Brock Lesnar doesn't have what it takes !

 

Dana said Brock told him to throw him to the sharks from the get go. He did just that. He put him against a former champ in his SECOND fight!

Even after a loss he put him against top 10 contender Herring in this THIRD fight! Herring had just beaten Kongo and gone the distance with Nog. Herring is quite durable so seeing your money train go the distance coming off of a loss is a risk yet he did it.

Dana openly admits getting a title shot is not just about what happens on paper. The Machida wait was because he was a boring fighter who had no mainstream value or appeal. Upon joining the UFC he went to 3 decisions and thats Dana's nightmare. After Sokoudjou he was being lined up for the title shot and got it after 2 more fights. By the time Machida-Evans happened it was huge and both guys were well known hence the reason it did 635,000 buys.

Brock Lesnar beat Couture in his FOURTH fight! Do people not understand what I'm writing. Can you imagine a boxer beating a Hopkins in his FOURTH fight! At that stage Couture was the giant tamer after ****ing up Sylvia and Gonzaga.

Then he ****s up quality fighters in Mir and Carwin. Mir was coming off of battering Nog and beatin Brock. Carwin was a beast.

In Brock we are talking about a champion who has less experience than every one of his championship fights. That is crazy!

Brock was the underdog or in 50-50 fights for his whole career!

Forget the talk, forget the physique, how can you not justify the hype. Even now, he still has unreal potential that he has to realise.

Most athletes are winding down their career at 30! Brock had just started it! Not to mention he was going into MMA with one dimension in wrestling. While defending his belt he is improving as a striker and grappler.

The whole story is insane. People just love to hate.

 

PS - Because MMA orgs are holding their fighters to such high standards, fans are scrutinising fighters under ridiculous guidelines. If you don't respect what Brock, Fedor etc have despite their pitfalls then you guys don't truly understand or appreciate how hard fighting is. Simple as.

I just watched Cain in amazement and thought about a NEW awesome legacy as look what Cain has achieved in 9 fights! Should JDS beat Cain then I will look in amazement again. You guys think one guy wins so the other must be ****. No, they are both amazing!

 

I can assure you that BOTH of the K bros has extensive wrestling training. However, it would take a few months before they were to be able to compete at that level.

But on an aside, ONE, just ONE, straight right from a Klitschko wearing 4 oz gloves= murder.

Imagine Vitali driving home a shot on Lesnar, or anyone for that matter. Or Wlad, hooking his jab. MAN!

I honestly wish Iron Mike Tyson would have went into UFC after his LL fight. We would have never known another MMA HW champ. Punishing hook by Tyson breaks every rib in anynamehere's body.

It's true, Lesnar does/did have fans who were over the top and hyped him up to be a thousand times better than he really is. Congrats to you and the rest of the people who were annoyed by this and now have a chance to point and laugh. That's part of what makes the sport fun. I'm sure whoever your favorite fighter is will eventually lose and the tide will turn.

Lesnar is a good fighter. And that cannot be denied. For a guy with no pro fighting experience who worked himself up to be that good, it really says a lot. He's also an amazing marketing tool. Be glad he helped put a ton of ass in seats for the UFC and MMA in general. Lesnar is not a GREAT fighter and I don't know if he'll ever get there. But one thing I know for sure is he hasn't been beaten by a total bum. Therefore you can't lump him in with Kimbo and Lashley.

 

I respect all of your point here. But I guess you see in Lesnar something I just can't see. I agree with you he maybe be improving, but I don't see a fighter in this guy. He's big, fast, good wrestling but look clumsy when in striking mode and from is 2 last fight he really doesn't like to be hit. I don't think that's something you can train for.

But if there is something I love is to be proven wrong, so we will see !

Cain looks pretty good though, can't wait to see him against JDS !
