Fight was never mentioned by either party. Or most people here. Calzaghe talked about Jones, Dawson was too busy trying to find a way not to have to apply for a passport and a Romanian visa, and the forum was awash with posters demanding Calzaghe 'man up' and fight the beast Kelly Pavlik

    Yet to be proven.

    Dawson?

**** off out of here. Ask anyone in the general public who Chad Dawson is and they wouldn't have a clue. There is no real point in him fighting Dawson where the payday will be nothing to what he is getting against Jones.

Antonio Tarver had KTFO a better version of Roy Jones, and beat him in their rubbermatch.

Glen Johnson had KTFO a better version of Roy Jones, and had him unconscious for 10 minutes, after shutting him out in round-by-round scores.

    Meanwhile:

    Dawson UD12 Johnson
    Dawson UD12 Tarver

It has already been proven, without a shadow of a doubt. :good

Ask anyone in the general public who Calzaghe is, and they'll say "Calwhoee"?

Maybe not in Britain, but over here that's how it is.

    Dawson
    6 ft 3
    Natural LHW
    Southpaw
Not well known in the UK
A good Jab, quick and strong
Can keep up with the pace Calzaghe fights on

    Calzaghe will not take this.

The only way Calzaghe fights Dawson will be if he loses to RJJ, then RJJ rematches with B-Hop, then Calzaghe is stuck with Dawson.

To be honest Calzaghe's resume is not the greatest a win over Dawson would mean alot IMO. Dawson is a young P4P talent who wants the fight and would go to Wales for it.

Don't get me wrong Dawson is a top fighter and it would be a tough but entertaining fight but I am not sure if it would do the numbers over in the UK simply because nobody in the general public knows who Dawson is and that's a fact.

It would be great for his legacy though no doubt about that.

Sure it would. Joe could sell out the stadium in Wales fighting a cab driver. How well did the public know Lacy? What I'm saying it wouldn;'t matter who he was fighting it would most likely be a farewell fight and people would turn out for it.

Very good points. Joe doesn't even have his southpaw advantage for this one.

Also, Dawson is very fluid and has P4P level boxing skills. Something that Calzaghe wants to stay away from at this stage.

dawson is a very good fighter and IMO the hardest styltstically fight out there for calzaghe.

but what he does not have is money or fans behind him yet.

mundine gets paid more for his buenos aires cab driver fights than dawson got v tarver ,and in las vegas for tarver v dawson , except for the press and hangers on , no one turned up, it really was low key.

Also, let's stop pretending Calzaghe is past it.

Did he not look like "the best he's ever looked" in beating Lacy and Kessler?

Now all of a sudden, it's time to fight Dawson and he is old and graying...right. :rofl

    I doubt it.

To be hones, i haven't paid Mundine any heed, he is sort of a sideshow at this point. Even if this is true, it only means that Mundine must be getting paid very well, because Dawson made a fair amount of quid against Tarver.

Joe would beat Dawson. Full stop, just look at the Johnson fight.

What people seem to forget about Calzaghe is that he has a very solid chin (so no KO for Chad) and he fights each fight different, depending on his opponants strenghts, so he ends up fighting in a way that is most difficult for his opponant.

Anyways I just wanna know, do people actually watch any Calzaghe fights? Because it sure sounds like a lot of you on here don't. As all of your arguements seem to be ill-formed or irrational.

Now I don't believe Calzaghe to be an atg top 25 or anything. But he is certainly one of the best fighters fighting at the moment.

And Bad Chad wants Tarver again :rofl:rofl
His fight against Johnson was very very close much closer than Calzaghe Hopkins yet Bad Chad Shat his Wad when Glen asked him for a rematch in the post fight interview.
Bad Chad "errr.... I have already fought Johnson I dont need to fight him again" Shot to pieces Tarver is fine! deal me in. :huh
