I never ever seen a champion look more beatable then Barker did then. He embarrassed his country, he embarrassed himself and embarrassed the standard of boxing as a WORLD champion. Disgusted.
Hey TheHogan... Fight someone. Anyone. And tell me Barker is a coward for fighting Felix Sturm, who would knock you unconscious and bleeding from the ears in half the time it took to stop Barker.
First of all, you know nothing about me. How do you know that i havent already fought for a championship? (Which i have)
He got caught cold. Sturm is a notoriously slow started, and Sturm came out looking like he wanted it. Barker wasnt warmed up for those kinds of exchanges, and he got KOd. He's blaming his hip of course, and it probably hurts, but if he'd have been ready for the quick start from Sturm, this woulda been a 10rd + fight.:think
Felix Sturm is one of the best Middleweights of the era. Keep in mind before you go overboard and sound dramatic and stupid.
I didnt watch the post fight interview. Did Barker say he hurt his hip? If so, then i retract some hatred towards his performance. Not all, but some.
Haha calm down. Im not discrediting Sturm. He's a great fighter. Barker looked shook before the bell rang. If he worked on a gameplan with his trainers then i know full well that he didnt stick to it. YOu dont fight Sturm like that. He either underestimated Sturm (which i doubt) or he lacked confidence. But that performance was his worst one to date.
IDK....I havent seen him make an excuse yet, but when Sturm caught him, he was noticeably buzzed....when he got up and when right back down, he got up smiling, looking at his his hip, limping etc, making excuses while still fighting. He all but begged to get out of there. It was huge cop out, but fact is, he wasnt ready for the fast start from Sturm.....he got caught, and believe me, the excuses will follow.:-(
This is utter BS! He's had hip issues since birth and you can see after the first knockdown his hip was gone. Without the hip issue he would have put up a much better fight, as seen when he was down in his last fight. How the **** are you supposed to fight with a dislocated hip! His corner knew the issue which is why they threw the towel, Barker didn't quit and was actually throwing punches when it was stopped.
Post match comments from his trainer suggests "it is unlikely he will ever box again" "dislocated hip" "too many injuries" Eddie Hearns said the same thing too.
