Sure. Cause Roy would throw away a massive payday against Popkins for a few extra dollars wouldn't he?
nothing suspect about that...I've seen guys take dives before...that was not staged. i don't know why he took this fight...i stated that this was a bad match-up and a dangerous fight for Roy when this fight was signed. Danny Green has been an avoided fighter throughout his career because of the sledgehammer he has in both hands. he is not the most skilled fighter in the world and doesn't have the best chin. But, his KO ratio is impressive and i believe that he has never actually hit the canvas despite being buzzed in almost every fight. Roy should have watched the classic sparring session with James Toney before taking this fight. if you haven't seen it yet, you should...it's legendary!!:good
I agree, it does look a little suspect, with the punch not landing flush. but I doubt anything sinister is going on with this one.
I'm thinking maybe he wants to enter the Hopkins fight a huge underdog, or doesn't like the fight to begin with. I agree that this was a dangerous fight for him, which makes me think what did he have to gain by fighting a huge guy like that in such a hostile place? Especially at his advanced age!
It wasn't staged at all; Roy, like most humans, can't take a shot to the temple and if you hit someone just right there, the effect of even a light or grazing punch will be alot worse than you'd assume. Other examples: Roy-Johnson and Mundine-Ottke. Neither looked like the kind of shot that would leave a guy out cold for minutes, but they did. Luckily, it was just a grazing punch that landed on Roy.
you are clearly a huge jones fan whom cant sperate the jones from 10 years ago to the fighter of today. Jones was the kind of fighter that relied on amazing natural talents like reflexes and speed, which made him so untouchable, but i can remember people hinting at him being a little chinny in some boxing circles even in the beginning of his great career. Unfortunately for jones reflexes and speed are the first to go with age, and he never built a foundation of technically sound boxing abilitity because he never needed to because of his natural gifts, this is why at this point in his carreer jones is not even a top 15 light heavy in the world hes at best average now, so no there was no fix jones just isnt good at this point in his carreer and should retire before he further embarrasses himself, and tarnishes a great legacy. Our society is a what have you done for me lately group, so i hope for his sake he just retires for good, before we forget how great he truly was
Did you see those fights with Beyer? Both fights were bogus...he destroyed Beyer, knocking him down 3 times in both fights...his only other loss was to fellow countryman, Anthony Mundine. That's it...only 3 losses and 2 of them weren't legit. He won the WBA lightheavy title in 2008 and no one wanted to fight him so he moved up to cruiserweight. Learn the facts, bro.
ive seen guys get hit with massive shots that should have taken there heads off and they shake it off and ive seen glancing blows knock the same people down...if you have watched enough fights in your lifetime, there is nothing strange about this, especially when a guy is 40 years old and has been fight over 25 years
RJJ would not kill his legacy at this stage. He was ready to take on BHop for big money and maybe retire. Nobody said this when Judah lost to Baldomir. If he was to take a dive why round 1
No it wasn't suspect. Jones just turned his head and got caught with a punch to a sensitive part of the head and just went down simple as that.
