Dan Cruickshank impressed me more. Not as straight up fast but looked rounded with an unorthodox striking game. The Lawrence kid looks ace, but will probably be undersized in this competition by the looks of it.
I don't know. Lawrence looks like an animal. The guy he beat was pretty well respected....it wasn't like he was up against one of the weaker fighters out of the 32. I thought the talent overall was pretty weak this time around, really only 4-5 guys that look like they can compete with people in the UFC.
Flyweights made big sense for this season IMO. Shame they didn't go for that. Still, the season usually gets more intriguing as you see more of the fighters. Towards the end you know what you're working with and you get some good clashes. Cruickshank Vs Lawrence for instance, that should be fun. Assuming they're on different teams :yep
So hard to make a call on any of these guys. Only seen less than 1 minute of some of em. Give it 2 or 3 weeks we'll see what we're dealing with then
Didn't look the best this year. Hope they prove me wrong though. The fella from Belfast looked like he was on something. He was huge. Shame he couldn't get off his back as that was a good fight when they stood up.
Pretty ****. Cruz has no charisma whatsoever and there's no **** talking between Faber/Cruz, it's dull.
His standup was wicked and he showed strong ground and pound - however I didn't like the way he fell right into guard instead of passing to knee on belly before punching. Shows his weakness is most likely his ground, guard and submission game.
That was the first night on a scouting mission with the Prez sat between 'em, I thought they did a good job and showed their personalities well, Cruz was quite stand-offish when it came to judging a fighters abilities for instance. Watch Jon Anik in between 'em as they discuss their two fights, on YouTube, far more sniping and cussing between them both. It'll heat up, I'm sure of it
You gotta take into account that this was 1000x bigger than the biggest fight any of these guys have ever had before. The jump in pressure and importance from their last fight to this one is bigger by far than the jump from contender level to a title fight. One round to make or break your career. The one-round distance, the complete ignorance of their opponent and his style, and the pressure of having Dana right there 15 feet away, and you can't expect these guys to look their best. They would all have been tight, nervous and second-guessing themselves, even the ones who won impressively. They've never fought on live TV before, never fought in a room with so many TV cameras and so few fans before, and likely never fought a one-round fight before. Once they get into the training centre, get their techniques tightened up and get over the fear of instant and humiliating failure, they'll look better. :good :hat
talent looks a lot weaker than last year, but then again we had two weight classes last year which means we would get two top tiers instead of one, but i wasnt impressed tbh, the guy who landed the sweet elbow then RNC seemed to have most potential, the karate wrestler dude wasnt that great i thought, he gassed badly and was gtting tagged towards the end of the round, lucky he got kneed in the balls and got a rest where he recovered enough to shoot a double a got it!! cruz and faber are 2 boring shits too, faber seems a good **** and so does cruz but i wont be expecting any haye chisora type brawls to beak out, funny how dana going on at the start how they hate each other yet they were chattin away throughout the show, idiot
