Just heard down my local chippy that Hearns and sons are going to try and launch the ZONE PPV UK by paying young Chris Eubank jr to drain down to 154 to face that little runt Connor BENNE Anyone else hearing similar rumblings on the streets?
I don't think Eubank Jnr who is 33 in a few weeks can fight at 154. Yes, he could get to that weight but simply getting down to a weight vs getting into a boxing ring and fighting at it are two very different things. Eubank Jnr also has a much, much bigger frame than Benn and I just don't see him weight draining to that level and then being effective 24 hours later. Especially as there will be a rehydration clause most likely. He spent years at 168- and despite what he himself has said he did not look out of place physically most of the time. To get down to a weight you have never been at at this stage in a career is not a good idea. He should fight Liam Smith at 160, which is a great fight for very good money which he is more than capable of winning.
I completely agree. I would much rather see Eubank Jr. vs Liam Smith instead of Eubank Jr. vs Conor Benn.
Honestly this fight is just a notch above the youtube shite. Complete and utter bollocks. Everybody will be convinced this is prime Benn v Eubank from the 90s. Just a circus show in reality. Expect Nigel and Chris to get at it in the pressers etc. It's going to be an embarrasent all round
It's a ridiculous fight but if it goes ahead at least one of them will lose, that's the only saving grace.
I met Eubank a few years ago and remember thinking he's massive for a middleweight, I don't see him cutting down to 154 at all.
Not a hope in he'll eubank gets to 154. 160 might start be a struggle . The money will be there if u r Benn go up to 160 162 even make a ton money and can make excuse too big size difference win win for him
It's just rumours. No chance Chris can come down to 154 to fight. He's quite a big lad tbh so it's just out the question.
I still think this is one of more bizzare match making exercises of the modern era. Years ago this wouldn't be talked about a small 147 against a big 168??? Even trying to drain Eubank down he's still got a big height and reach difference. No interesting in seeing this at all. Would rather they got on with fighting the best in their division or at least attempting to. Eubank seems to be going out with a wimper. No interest in fighting anyone world class.
